Better late than never: With 24hours delay Amazon US started to take reorders on the new Sony 16-25mm G (Click here).

And here are new reviews:

DigitalCameraWorld writes:

It’s certainly not a cheap lens but I feel it’s well worth the money and a powerful tool for landscapes, cityscapes, architectural interiors and even astrophotography. It’s nothing if not versatile, and the handling characteristics are excellent.

PCMag writes:

If you can get past its meager zoom range, the well-built Sony FE 16-25mm F2.8 G lens rewards you with excellent low-light results at wide angles.

Mobile01 writes:

It is obvious that Sony has made a leap in optical capabilities, if you have requirements for resolution, you no longer need a GM lens. The performance of the new generation “G Lens” is also quite reliable, enough to feed the 60MP ultra-high pixels.

Curiosity: New Bravia TV lineup has “Alpha borrowed” naming structure and very innovative tech!

Share
Four new TV models feature improved picture quality with high brightness, expanded color volume, enhanced dynamic contrast, and multi-directional sound to revitalize every scene, just as the filmmakers intended.

You can reorder the new Bravia TV’s on those special pages at Amazon and BHphoto. They also announced the new Theater Quad surround sound system you can reorder at Amazon and BHphoto.

Sony’s new range of Bravia TVs is really worth a look. First of all, the new naming system reminds me of the Alpha line :)
Much more important is the very innovative new technology. Take a look at this video to see why this is an exciting release from Sony:

You can now preorder the new Sony 16-25mm f/2.8 G at Amazon, BHphoto and Adorama

Preorders:
USA at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama
EU at FotoErhardt, FotoKoch, Calumet, WexUK, Amazon.

My take on this lens:
It’s a much more interesting lens than the 24-50mm f/2.8 G announced a month ago. This new 16-25mm G lens makes sense because:

  1. First of all it’s almost half the price of the 16-35mm GM.
  2. It’s much lighter and compact (perfect for gimbal shooters, vloggers and travel photographers)
  3. And if you think about it…most of us do own a 24-70mm GM lens and you will not miss the 35mm focal length anyway.

One more news: Today Sony Japan also announced that reorders were much higher than expected:

Orders for the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G “SEL2450G” for digital single-lens camera α [E mount], which we started accepting orders for from Thursday, February 29, 2024, have far exceeded our expectations. , it may take some time for the product to be delivered.
We are currently working hard to respond to customer requests as much as possible, so we appreciate your patience.

The good news after 16-25mm G announcement: 24-70mm f/2.0 and 85mm f/1.4 GMII is coming soon too!

I have been telling you for months about five lenses coming til early summer:

The fact that he got the first two lenses right definitely confirms that we will soon have these two new GM monsters! A series of interesting announcements can be expected from now on:

  1. The next Sony announcement will bring us the ZV-E10II and one new lens.(the one with the specs I still don’t know).
  2. With that OR shortly after that we will get the new GM lenses.
  3. And after the GM lenses we can talk big business with new Alpha bodies, FX cameras and more exciting lenses!
