A77 still climbing the Amazon chart (now inside the top 10).
Since yesterday the A77 is in Stock at Amazon (Click here). And it is climbing the Amazon rankings (Click here to it). It now is on Position 9! Why is that interesting? For years now Canon or Nikon cameras are holding the first position. Only the Sony NEX-7 came close to the first position (on Pos. 3). I am really curious to see how close the A77 will come on top. To bad the NEX-7 will be delayed (until February?). That was that camera that could have reached position one!
More rankings: Amazon DE, Amazon UK, Amazon FR, Amazon JP.

7 months ago |I think if anything, the FF official announcement will be early next year, but most likely will NOT be on the market until about this time next year. If I recall correctly, Sony brings out new cameras just before the holidays, which only makes sense… (unlike Canon, that’s bringing out their 1DX in the Spring at a time when people aren’t really spending money-broke from the holidays, and tax season).

The market is not all composed by moms and dads spending money for Xmas, but also by people actually using their cameras for working

I was going to wait for the FF as well, but then realized: I could REALLY use the features of the A77 NOW. Mainly, the flip out screen for different views so I’m not craning and hurting my neck.
I’m looking forward to using the new body, even if I’m not going to be using it with the nice 17-50/2.8 “kit” lens. When the A99 comes out, that would be a good time to trade up, meaning I might wait on a vgrip. Not really much of a choice given they are sold out.
Btw, UHS-I 95MB/second Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC cards are out. Sweet.

7 months ago |I don’t think any Sony’s will make it to 1st anytime soon.
Canon and Nikon are so strong with their brand names. And most of the DSLR business is on entry level where Canon and Nikon are almost like ‘the’ cameras.
Nikon 1 cameras are selling better than Nex-5N, even for each color separately. From some reviews I read, some of those people are not even aware of the NEX system.
A tough race for Sony

7 months ago |Ciao Decato.
The Nikon 1 system is selling very well because Nikon deployed a very intense and smart marketing strategy. I have seen ads of the Nikon system in Italian newspapers where you never see ads of cameras or the like, and I have seen ads of the Nikon system inside the Tokyo Metro system, as well in posters around the city, etc. Nikon played this game very well, considered that the camera per se is nothing special.
OTOH, at least here in Japan, the Sonys are unavailable. I wanted to buy a NEX7, but, well, MAYBE it will arrive in December-January (they said in the Sony building of Ginza. Translated into “rest-of-the-world” communication system this means February). So I looked for a NEX 5n, but the main stores do not have it anymore, and those which have it have it in Japanese (no, arigato).
Therefore, since I cannot buy Sony, Pana and Samsung are only in Japanese, and the only convincing Oly is the Ep3 which is far overpriced, at some point I even started to consider the Nikon 1 system.
Eventually I decided to keep my dslr (Nikon D7000) for a while, and wait for the Nex system to reappear on the radars. But this should tell you why there are (at least some of the) buyers actually investing money in the 1 system instead of the Nex…

Wake UP Sony its called TV !!!! get on that S* !!! By the way I have an A77, it rocks.

7 months ago |It’s interesting that the A77 is way outselling the A65 considering the A65 was more readily available. SONY has done a great job of presenting the differences and justifying the $500 extra cost IMO!
For those of you still thinking about getting one of these wonderful cameras check out our A77 sample photos straight out of the camera at http://www.abetterdj.net under the SONY|MINOLTA tab.
