Nikon is confident they can beat Sony&Canon and become Number 1 in Full Frame “quite soon”

I still have a fresh memory of the days when Samsung was claiming they would become the number one company in the system mirrorless camera world. Well it didn’t end well for them. I hope the following Nikon statement will not bring them bad luck too. In an interview released at Dpreview Nikon said:

“Our goal is to become number one in the full-frame market. We believe that we can achieve the number one position maybe quite soon”

Quite soon? Let’s pack folks, the game is over. Nikon won and your E-mount stopped to work as of today :)

On a serious note: My bet is Canon will still lead the pack in 3 years from now…

Anonymous:

  • Batis 2/40 CF currently has some hiccups with Eye-AF and AF with focus magnifier, yes.
  • Zeiss is aware of the problem and is investigating the possible cause if it is lens, body or something else. This is on high priority.
  • Batis 2/40 CF stops maximum of two stops at the MFD. So, f/2 becomes f/4 (not f/8). This happens to sustain high image quality. There are other lenses that does this too, Sony ones too (ie. a common practice with some lenses).
  • Someone have had a rough customer experience with Zeiss, but currently Zeiss admits that there is a problem and is investigating it. If it is a lens, quite likely a firmware update will fix it.
