Sony 135mm f/1.8 GM announcement around 3-4pm London time

The image on top show you the current Sigma 135mm f/1.8 FE lens. And today at 3-4pm London time Sony will announce their 135mm f/1.8 FE GM lens.

There is a near ZERO per cent chance Sony will announce other new cameras or lenses. The new 135mm GM is all we are likely going to get today from Sony.

I also wonder how many of our readers will buy the Sony when there is a cheaper Sigma alternative on the market. Yes of course, the Sony might be a bit better but the Sigma is already excellent…

Note: Seems like the new flash info rumor I posted yesterday was wrong. There was a misundertsanding and sources quickly corrected me. Thanks!

(SR5) Sony 135mm f/1.8 GM will be announced tomorrow (Feb 26)

I have now learned that Sony will announce new gear on February 26:

– Sony 135mm f/1.8 GM  (sel135f18gm) for sure
– Note: The new Flash rumor is wrong (other two sources now told me this rumor might be incorrect)

No new camera and no other new E-mount lens will be announced.

I am not sure about the exact announcement hour but usually Sony does announce new products at around 3-4pm London time…

And I also don’t know yet if Sony will give us some more info about their Lens roadmap…I certainly hope they will.

Stay tuned: Sony announcement within 48 hours!

Within the next 48 hours Sony will announce new E-mount lens(es). From what I heard the press event starts on Monday and ends on Tuesday. Not sure at what time exactly the announcement will be official.

Very good chance the 135mm f/1.8 GM will be announced. But I guess Sony will also give us some info about their future lenses which might include the 500mm and 600mm f/4.0 and a new 35mm f/1.8 G. These lenses could be “pre-announced” on roadmap or/and shows as prototypes.

(SR5) Confirmed: Sony product launch event on Febr 25/26. 135mm f/1.8 GM and some more lenses?

We now have been told that Sony has organized a major worldwide press event for February 25 and 26. There will be new E-mount product(s). It’s granted we will get at least the new 135mm f/1.8 GM but maybe Sony will also unveil some other E-mount lens too.

The chances to get a new camera are low for now. There will be a new E-mount camera announcement within June but we have no exact launch date yet.

I will let you know as soon as I have the exact Sony press event date. There should be a video livestream too which I will embedd on SAR. Stay tuned folks!

What to expect:
New 135mm f/1.8 GM lens
Hopefully some other new E-mount lens (100mm f/1.4, 500mm f/4.0 and 600mm f/4.0 have been patented by Sony. Also rumored are a possible launch in 2019 of the 35mm f/1.8 G and a new APS-C zoom.

What to NOT expect:
No A7sIII yet
There is a reliable rumor about a new E-mount camera launch within June. But it shouldn’t be announced yet at the WPPI show. My guess is that it will be announced in May-June.
