First Sony A7 competitor the Leica SL will cost over 10.000 Euro with kit lens.

Mirrorlessrumors reports the Leica SL with 24-90mm kit lens will cost over 10.000 Euro once it’s launched. The SL is a mirrorless Full Frame system camera with autofocus lens system. So while form a technical point of view this is indeed the first Sony A7 competitor the price will make it affordable for only a selected few.

One more thing: Canon will launch a sort of A5000 competitor within the next few days (Image and info again at Mirrolessrumors).

(SR5) Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 to be announced on Wednesday October 14 at 11:00 Berlin time.

140918_zeiss_otus.0x1200

Zeiss will have two separate announcements next week!

  1. On Monday Oct 12 at 11:00 (Berlin time) they will announce the 21mm f/2.8 Loxia FE lens
  2. On Wednesday Oct 14 at 11:00 (Berlin time) they will announce the new 28mm f/1.4 Otus lens

For sure there will be no new Batis lens next week. They are still lagging behind with the current 25mm and 85mm Batis lens production.

Batis store links:
Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 lens in US at Adorama, Bhphoto. In Eu at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.
Zeiss Batis 25mm f/2.0 lens at Adorama, Bhphoto. In EU at Amazon DE, WexUK. In Asia at Digitalrev.

(SR3) New RX1 successor could have popup EVF and 42MP sensor.

A photoshopped RX2 image …no big deal :)

A source just shared this:

The next generation of SONY RX1 or RX1R (not sure which name is correct) will have a pop up EVF same as RX100 IV. And it will use the same sensor as A7R II, the 42M BSI. Size and the shape is similar as the current one.

I guess there will be no more a “R” version as the A7rII sensor already has no anti aliasing filter. This could become a nice street camera for those who want the A7rII power in a more compact size. Just to display the difference here is the exact size comparison:

Source: Camerasize.

Yep I think that RX2 would make a lot of sense!

A7rII preorder list:
In USA: at Amazon, BHphoto, AdoramaSonyStore US, FocusCamera, Uniquephoto.
In Asia at Digitalrev, CameraPro.

And now we are close: Highly Trusted sources told us Zeiss will announce the new Loxia 21mm f/2.8 Full Frame E-mount lens on Monday Oct 12 at 11:00 Berlin time! I have no info on the price yet but the lens has a Biogon design just like the [shoplink 9804 ebay]ZM T* 2,8/21 version[/shoplink].

As usual you can follow the announcement live blogging on SAR! And keep in mind Sony will announce many more new FE lenses the week after the Zeiss announcement!

Note for sites reposting the rumor: Would be kind if you link back to this post and write “SonyAlphaRumors.com”. Thanks!

Speculations on forums: Did Diglloyd post images shot with the new Loxia 21mm and Otus 28mm lens?

Loxia_21mm_28

I got many mails from readers and saw many discussions on forum about Diglloyd latest posts. In particular people are questioning about two posts:

  1. Post one (Click here). Diglloyd posted images shot on the A7rII with a unnamed 21mm lens. The File Info shows this is an E-mount 21mm f/2.8 lens. There is no such lens on the market yet and Diglloyd doesn’t say in that post what lens he used. So because people keep discussing about those images on the web I asked him what lens he used and he answered he used an adapted [shoplink 41039 ebay]ZF lens[/shoplink]. It’s up to SAR readers to believe him or not :) UPDATE: On a new post Diglloyd makes it clear those ar ZF lens shots.
  2. Post two (Click here). Diglloyd posted an A7rII image shot with what he called “unknownLens”. Again, on forum and other blogs people speculated this could be the first image shot on the new Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens.

Beside all that speculation I have been told by my sources the new Loxia FE lens design is based on the current [shoplink 9804 ebay]Biogon T* 2,8/21 ZM design (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. And announcement should be made someday next week!

And do not forget that one week after the Zeiss Loxia 21mm announcement also Sony will announce their 8 new FE lenses too! Stay tuned on SAR!
