A possible Sony roadmap for end 2015.

Roadmap

It’s now summertime and we can take a deep breath before the next Sony announcement storm. If you wonder what we could expect to get from Sony in late 2015 here is a possible roadmap:

Cameras:
What’s pretty much sure to come is the A7sII. Also likely is a new A-mount camera also because Sony really HAS to bring it to show the A-mount system is well alive. The A7000 rumor was my heartbreaker and I do hope Sony will not miss the shot once again.

Lenses:
There will be a new Sony FE fast prime lens, new FE 24-70mm GM lens, new updated A-mount lenses and the Loxia wide angle lens.

(Im-)Possible surprises:
RX2 camera, A9 high end camera, medium format RX.

So what it’s high on your priority wish list?

(SR2) Possible 8K Cine Alta Sony camera specs!

8KComparison

I got this from a very new source so please as usual take it with a grain of salt. The source claims to know the specs of a new 8K FZ mount camera:

“Sony is working on a 8K Cine Alta camera which will replace the current top of the line Sony F65 camera. The sensor will be based on the A7r2 back-lit CMOS technology and will include a global shutter mode (either mechanical or electronic)
– 60FPS in DCI 8K resolution
– 240FPS in DCI 4K resolution
– 16 bit RAW uncompressed and compressed onboard recorder
– ProRes, DNxHD, DNxHR, AVCHD, XAVC, SR, MPEG-2, H264
– Burst mode allows for higher FPS
– Sony F55 form factor and weight
– To be introduced in early 2016
– Price point will surprise many people
– Sony FZ mount”

Thanks source!

(SR1) New detailed APS-C E-mount flagship camera specs?

large_A6100

Like I told you yesterday I have many doubts about those rumored E-mount camera specs. And we got even more info from the same source I want to share. But again, I see low chance these are correct. The source claims that this is a new APS-C camera model placed above the current A6000. Read his message here:

It has a new 24MP sensor with ISO range of 100-51,200.
15fps continuous shooting with AF.
30fps continuous shooting in “4K Mode”. This is similar to Panasonic 4K Photo Mode.
Still no touchscreen, but it has a new 2.8M dot OLED EVF. Rear monitor is 3″ 1.04M dot and is now fully articulating.
Mic input support.
It will have lots of exciting video features previously not seen on Sony APS-C cameras.
This camera will be placed above A6000 and target users that need both stills and video features. A6000 will continue to be sold as is.

It certainly sounds exciting! And it would be nice if Sony would finally keep pushing the APS-C E-mount system too! We really need a more affordable and also smaller mirrorless system camera.

(SR5) Sony officially registered a new 24-70mm FE GM lens (f/2.8?)

Digicameinfo spotted an official Sony lens name registration in Russia. Sony named the lens “SEL2470 GM”. This is likely the first f/2.8 Full Frame E-mount zoom lens! And “GM” could define the new line of fast Sony zooms.

Usually once registered the new product will be announced within the next 6-8 weeks.

Sony already confirmed on previous interviews they are working on faster FE lenses.

(SR1) I really do not think this is the A6100 (or A7000)

large_A6100

Mirrorlesrumors posted that image of a supposed new A6100 (or A7000) camera. I’d say it’s 99% a fake. And so the specs they mention:

24.3 MP sensor (different from A6000)
Tri-navi control system
Mag. alloy body
1/32000 electronic shutter
4K Video (10 min limit)
No IBIS
No weather seal
Announcement in 2-3 weeks
Body only price is expected around 900 USD.

(SR3) Coming soon: APS-C E-mount camera with “new class in speed and low light capability”.

The last couple of days I got many rumors from different sources. It may be a sign that Sony is preparing a new product announcement in a couple of weeks! This is what I just got today:

I wantet to share that sony is preparing to anounce yet another new camera. best guess would be mid / late august or maybe IFA in Berlin. from what I garthered it will be an aps camera, so maybe the a7000? it is said that it will feature a new class in speed and low light capability.

Would be nice if Sony would at last announce a new APS-C camera! Not everyone can or will spend $3500 for the Sony A7rII!

A7rII preorder list:
In USA: at Amazon, BHphoto, AdoramaSonyStore US, FocusCamera, Uniquephoto.
In Europe at Sony DEUK, FR, IT, ES, NL, BE, CH, AT, SE, FI, NO, PT. Wex UK.
In Asia at Digitalrev, CameraPro.
