CP+ camera rumors so far (A7000, A7rII, A3xxx…. and A99II).

Note: Since one year Sony changed the policy on camera announcements. They do not unveil the release date to anyone and only the Japanese headquarters know when a certain product gets announced. I guess all the recent leak and hacking history made them change the procedure on how they announce their products (I mean all their products not only cameras).

What to expect now on CP+:

1) My trusted sources got reliable info about the new A7000 (High End APS-C) the new High megapixel FF E-mount cameras. I also got info from anonymous sources about an entry level APS-C (A3xxx) and a cheap Full Frame E-mount camera (A5?). Months ago I even got info via Tamron sources about a new A-mount Full Frame camera with close to 50MP.

2) There is yet no 100% reliable info on which camera could be announced at CP+. Even my few Japanese sources told me only Japanese Top managers know that. But I am sure that even if Sony surprisingly decided to not announce any new camera at CP+ …we only have to wait 3-5 weeks more to see them released. Juts like the A7II has been announced AFTER Photokina.

My personal bet is the High End Megapixel Sony and maybe also the A7000 will be announced very soon…and I am doing anything to get reliable info about that as soon as I can. Any help is appreciated and you can use that anonymous contact form to send me your “rumors”…Thanks ;)

First move from Canon: 50,6 Megapixel Full Frame (Sony sensor?) image and specs!

It’s months that we talk about Canon and Sony being ready to launch a 50 megapixel Full Frame cameras. There is even some weird rumor that the Canon will use the Sony 50MP sensor. And now we got first image of the new Canon 5Ds camera which uses that 50.6MP full-size CMOS sensor! From Digicameinfo via Canonwatch (full specs here).

The news matters because:
1) I got that kind of CanonSony 50 MP rumors from my sources. So it’s highly likely that if the Canon rumor is correct than also the Sony High Megapixel camera rumors are correct :)
2) It will be interesting to see if there is indeed a partnership on the Canon-Sony sensor front. And it we have to see what kind of consequences this will have.
3) If it’s a Canon uses the Sony sensor that the specs will be the same for the A7II (specs can be read at Canonwatch.)
4) At that point Sony cannot wait too long to launch the A7rII (or A9) with 50MP sensor!

Now let’s hope I can finally get a release date for the new A7rII (or A9)!!!! Stay tuned on SAR!

SAR note: None of my trusted sources said yet there is a Cnaon-Sony sensor partnership.S o keep it with a grain of salt. So let’s wait for the A7rII to see if there is a partnership or not…

Canon-Sony partnership on new 50MP sensor?

Steve from CanonWatch reports about a possible “unexpected” partnership between Sony and Canon:

In other words, and according to the source, Canon and Sony will agree on a patent exchange to produce a 53MP sensor for Canon’s upcoming high resolution DSLRs. This sensor would keep the Exmor technology, and feature Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS AF. The best of both worlds someone may say. Sony would still sell sensors to Nikon, but without the Dual Pixel AF (it is for sure not a problem for Sony to mass-produce slightly different lines of sensors).

I havent heard about such a partnership from my sources. But I think that this partnership would certainly make sense for both manufacturers to save some costs. Something necessary if you know the system camera market is shrinking dramatically (Source: Cipa on 43rumors).

What’s coming at CP+ in two weeks so far: Many FE lenses, some A-mount lens. Camera release date unsure.

sony_20141120_012

Time to make a clear roundup of the CP+ rumors. The show will start on February 12 and the Sony press conference is scheduled for February 13. There is some smoke and some fire on the rumors front:

The Fire:

So far we only know for sure that four FE lenses (Zeiss 35mm f/1.4, Sony 28mm f/2.0 G, 90mm f/2.8 G OSS macro, 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS) and two converters will be announced.
It’s also highly likely that
1) Sony will show an updated FE roadmap
2) Sony will give us more hints and show a mockup of the two “updated” A-mount lenses (image on top)

The smoke:
So far I got no 100% confirmation from trusted sources about a camera announcement at CP+. They spilled out some info on the A7000, A7rII and so on but always stressed me to say that announcement date is unclear. Knowing the recent Sony history it may be possible that Sony will focus on the FE lens announcement at CP+ and announce the cameras 1-2 months later just like it happened at Photokina and with the A7II.
1) There is a cat and mouse game with Canon on the High megapixel camera. So maybe Sony wants to see what Canon brings out first…
2) New 4K cameras may be announced at NAB in April. A show that suits better for that kind of tech.
3) I got absolutely ZERO rumors about possible new A-mount cameras coming at CP+….

So let’s hope that Sony is just hiding their cards like they did with the A7s and A7II…we want the A7rII and A7000 as soon as it gets Sony! :)

(SR4) Trusted source: I am 99% sure the new A7rII is coming with “50Mp sensor”.

A long time source got information that the new Sony A7rII is coming with a 50 Megapixel sensor. I am right now asking him when the camera will be announced and how it looks. Stay tuned, got the feeling he can tell me more and that the camera is coming sometimes…soon :)

Stay yuned, I hope I can finally give you 99% reliable info on the camera soon!!!!
