(SR5) Sources say: QX is already the most preordered Sony camera in history!

Reminder: At 17:000 Berlin time you will be able to follow the QX lens camera announcement live on SonyAlphaRumors!

SonyAlphaRumors is a small website that usually focuses on Sony A and E-mount cameras and lenses. But these cameras never have been as popular as Canon and Nikon. But for the first time in 15 years Sony is about to break all records with the new QX Lens Camera announcement. According to multiple sources almost all big stores from Asia, Europe and North America already preordered more QX cameras than any other A or E-mount, Cybershot or RX cameras released before. These are the info I got from them:

1) All major US and EU stores preordered more QX100 and QX10 cameras than any other Sony camera before (in terms of item numbers and large stock preorders from stores (not from single buyers)).

2) Most stores will be highly active in showing and promoting the new QX lenscameras. Example: See the Mediamarkt homepage right now (Mediamarkt is one of the largest Tech stores in Europe!).

3) Some of the sources said the great thing about the QX camera is that is unique. The current lens kits for smartphone (here at Amazon US) cannot compete with QX in terms of image quality and versatility. The new QX lenscameras are seen as the best way to “replace” the dying compact camera market. And stores are looking forward to sell QX to cover the “loss”.

4) Most store owners told me that the QX lenscameras are priced right. Usually companies tend to over price their new products, particularly if it’s something with little or no competition o market. But the QX100 for example is priced $250 below the RX100MII camera ($748 at Amazon) that has exactly the same lens can sensor!

5) Sony will focus on delivering specific accessories for the most popular cameras. For example there will be special iPhone cases with built-in lenscamera mount. I have been told the Playmemory APP is very basic but it will be improved in time.

Here are the most important specs on the new QX lenscameras:
There will be two QX cameras now, the QX10 and QX100. More QX cameras to be annouced early 2014. Body material of the QX cameras is plastic. They have built-in Stereo Mic, Contrast Detection AF, Touchfocus AF (on smartphone), face detection. QX100 has 20.2 Megapixel and ISO 160-6000. QX10 has 18.2 Megapxiel and ISO 100-12,800, both with WiFi and NFC connectivity, tripod mount, FullHD, has microSD slot, shoots JPG (no RAW available), in lens stabilization, and you can control zoom, exposure, white balance, and focus on your mobile device.
The QX10 costs $250 and lens and sensor are from the Sony WX150 ($400 on Amazon).. QX100 costs $500 and lens and sensor are from the RX100MII camera ($748 at Amazon).

Many camera rumors to come. Special Thanks to all my trusted sources.

The last 24 hours were incredibly exciting. And I take the chance to thank all my trusted sources for helping me out with rumors. I deeply appreciate what you do, and I hope one day (maybe in a couple of years) to be able to meet you to offer you a good red wine and Italian Dinner. Whenever you are on the Dolomites feel free to contact me :)

To readers: Tomorrow, right after the QX camera announcement that will happen in a couple of hours I will share you more details about the upcoming Sony cameras. There will be many new things, including a brand new RX camera!!! And now I am almost certain, no A-mount camera this year. Only E-mount. Plenty of new A-mount cameras will come very early 2014.

(SR5) More stuff to be announced today: AX1 4K Camcorder, AS30 Sportscamera and HDR-MV1 picture.

The Big Highlight of todays Sony event are the new QX Lens Cameras. The livestream will start at 16:00 London time and I will embed the live video on SonyAlphaRumors. Specs and price of the QX are known ($250 for QX10 and $500 for QX100). But there is also some more stuff to come:

On the picture on top you see the AX1 4K camcorder that will be sold for around $4,499. Than you have the new AS30 Sportscamera for $298 (Image via Sonyactioncam2) and the HDR-MV1 audio+video recorder (Image via Stuff Magazine October issue).

UPDATE: Here is the full 4K camcorder press text: http://www.prweb.com/releases/Sony/Camcorder-News/prweb11086357.htm

Small news for A-mount camera owners: The 70-200mm has been officially discontinued by Sony Japan. The new version II lens will be announced along the new NEX-FF stuff and other camera in late September!

(SR5) QX Lens camera press release with spec list, video and images!

A Sony site unintentionally leaked the full Press release including images. The new QX100 and QX10 “lens-style cameras” will be announced tomorrow (September 4) at 16:00 London time (4pm). I will embed the livestream of the Sony presentation on this site. I will also include early reviews and preorder links. UPDATE: Sony asked me to remove the press release as it was posted by mistake by one of their sites. The video of the QX cameras is still public on youtube and I will keep it embedded as this isn’t my video or channel (Source is Mobilegeeks.de).

Interesting for “advanced” photographer: There is a good and a bad news:
The good news is that the QX100 costs $250 less than the Sony RX100MII (here at Amazon). And the QX100 has the same lens and sensor!
The bad news: The QX Lenscamera do not shoot RAW. It’s JPG only!

(SR4) UDPATED: Many NEX-FF cameras on roadmap (one is a cheap model!).

Tomorrow (Sept 4 at 16:00 London time) Sony will announce plenty of new stuff. This includes the QX lenscameras, the new 4K camcorders, the new action camera and I am still not sure about this…maybe the 70-200mmII lens and some other lens. What I don’t expect to be announced tomorrow is the NEX-FF camera. The leaked Zeiss 35mm f/2.8 Full Frame should have convinced everyone that Sony will launch the camera. The questions now are…when is it coming? And how will the camera be?

The rumors I got said that there will be a big Sony presentation in late September. And here are some early tidbits on the super secret Sony NEX-FF camera:

(SR4) A source (Thanks Un…S..!!!) that gave me many correct info in the past shared some bits on the upcoming NEX-FF photocamera….actually photocameras (plural!).
He told me that more than two FF-NEXs are under development. There is also a “cheap” model that will be highly competitive to Canon/Nikon FF entry-level cameras! This suggest it could be priced at $2,000 which is the current price of the [shoplink 20844 ebay]Canon 6D (Click here)[/shoplink] and [shoplink 20846 ebay]Nikon D600 (Click here)[/shoplink]. UPDATE: New Question to source: Is the first camera coming in late September?

(SR3) A new source told me that the NEX-FF with kit lens (a new FF G zoom) will be priced at around $3,500. Announcement in a couple of weeks!

What is SR5 for now are the two Zeiss prime lenses, 35mm f/2.8 and 55mm f/1.8. But I have been told at least two more will come!

(SR5) UPDATED: New QX lenscamera pictures! Announcement on September 4 at 4pm London time!

After Tomorrow, on September 4 at 4pm London time (yes “pm” and not “am”!) Sony will announce the new QX Lens Cameras! You absolutely have to follow the event live on SonyAlphaRumors! I will keep you updated with all first tests, news and preorder links.

And here are some more new images leaked via a Korean source that attached some inappropriate anti-Japanese text on the images (why the heck he did it we don’t know). On these images you see the magnetic plate. You also have a picture of a guy with perfectly styled hair (lol) that uses the lens separated from the camera.

UPDATE: One of my sources said there will be special covers for the most popular smartphones (Thanks Ice..!). They will allow to mount the lens without the bracket. Indeed one of the leaked pictures shows you the cover on a Sony Honami smartphone:

via Photorumors.

Reminder:

1) The name of these cameras is actually “Smart Shot“. It’s a mix between Smart-phone and Cyber-Shot.

2) The SmartShot lenses have in lens stabilization!

3) Again, it’s compatible with all Android and iOS devices via Playmemories APP (the new version will come out soon. My sources tested the BETA version). Connection via Wi-Fi/NFC

4) Videos in HD video 1080/30p, format MP4. Can be recorded with low noise even in dark places.

5) The captured image is saved automatically in both the smartphone and memory in the camera.

6) You can control zoom, exposure, white balance, and focus on your mobile device.

7) The QX10 has the same 1/2,3 inch 18 megapixel CMOS sensor and  f/3,3-5.9 lens as the Sony WX150 ($400 on Amazon). WIll be priced at $250.

8) The QX100  costs $450. That is $300 less than the price of the RX100MII camera ($748 here at Amazon) that features the same sensor and lens! Great pricing! You can get the best compact camera yet on market for $300 less.
