Sony US extends SLT offer “while supplies last.”

Sony US is clearly trying to clear their Stock of SLT cameras. They just extended the SLT offer running at Amazon US (Click here)while supplies last“. New A-mount cameras are expected to hit the stores in very early 2014. It’s till unclear yet if the new A-mount cameras will be announced and available for preorder in autumn.

To sources and readers: I keep receiving rumors about many new cameras and lenses. Please excuse me if it takes time to post everything. I always try to at least double check the rumors to avoid major mistakes. The rumors I am working on are:

1) NEX-FF release date and lens specs
2) APS-C lens cameras and lenses
3) A77 mirrorless successor specs
4) A-mount Full Frame camera specs (two cameras!)
5) Hybrid A-E mount
6) New RX cameras

On all these fronts I got specs and info. But I learned from the past that some of them may not be correct (for different reasons). So be patient. I am doing my best every day now!

P.s.: particularly the NEX-FF rumors I am getting sound ground breaking!…and expensive :(

(SR5) There will be a new DSLR styled E-mount camera!

After a couple of low rated SR2- SR3 rumors we are back on track with SR5 rumors from highly trusted sources! And there is already a first surprise:

Project Alpha Fox:
Sony is working on a new NEX camera concept. The working project is called “Project Alpha Fox“. This will be Sony’s first E-mount camera with classic DSLR design. Something that has been done before by Panasonic (with the G and GH series) and Olympus (OMD series). The camera is an entry level E-mount that will have to compete against the Canon REBEL series. That’s what Sony managers are targeting for: beat the Rebel performance for the same price. Features and release date are yet still not known and as usual I will work to get some more info soon.

This rumor has been confirmed by three different sources (one new and two trusted). Compliments ot the new source that just became a trusted source ;)

(SR3) UPDATED: Still some SLT camera to come before the full A-mount mirrorless transition?

In my previous post I asked my sources to help me to sort out two doubts I have on the NEX-FF and A-mount mirrorless-SLT strategy. Sorry if that creates a bit of confusion but this has been a very crazy year on the Sony development front and things are changing fast.

UPDATE:  I got four feedbacks from four different sources. While it’s sure that A-mount mirrorless with non SLT tech is the soon to come future there is still a tiny bit uncertainity if some of the finished SLT prototypes will make it into mass production anyway. At that stage I cannot be 100% certain no SLT camera will be released. But as I told you before, the one thing I am certain of is that non SLT A-mount cameras will come in 2014.

P.S.: I also got some info about the A-mount mirrorless cameras coming in 2014 and I will post them soon on SAR as soon as I have triple checked them with other trusted sources. Overall it looks like many…but really many(!) new NEX and A-mount cameras are ready to hit the market within the next one to six months. I got so many infos and specs that I have to work them out patiently because I am sure some of them are not entirely correct. Because some are still prototypes only, some cameras may not be announced at all and because some rumors may be wrong (spreaded by Sony itself).

The two doubts I have on the NEX-FF and A-mount mirrorless.

I am writing this post for my sources. I have two major doubts to sort out:

1) NEX-FF
While the camera should ship in 2014 I am still not 100% sure if what we are going to see in September-October is the final camera, a prototype or just a general presentation of the new system. Please let me know…thanks!

2) A-mount mirrorless
Will there still be some SLT camera before the full transition to the A-mount mirrorles system?

Thanks for your help!

(SR2) Possible NEX-7 successor body description.

An anonymous (and new) source sent me a few details about the NEX-7 successor. I really don’t know if these specs are correct. Let’s hope trusted sources can give us some feedback on this:

More feedbacks from sources about the NEX-FF

As you know yesterday I posted an SR4 rated rumor about the NEX-FF announcement in autumn. Hope it can become soon SR5. Here is the feedback I got from three other sources:

1) One trusted source that usually has info on the A-mount roadmap said that he “heard” the NEX-FF will be in Stock in 2014. But he doesn’t know yet if the announcement will be made earlier (in late 2013).

2) An anonymous source confirmed the announcement for late 2013.

3) Another trusted source said there will be a big announcement in autumn. But he doesn’t know yet if it’s the FF-NEX or A-mount mirrorless.

Overall we still don’t know what exactly Sony will announce: The real final camera, or just a prototype or just make a general introduction of the new system. The good news is that I also received first info about the lenses. I am checking the info with other soruces right now and will post them as soon as it gets.

As usual stay tuned on SAR!

(SR4) UPDATED: FF-NEX coming soon? Stay tuned on SAR!!!

A super trusted sources got some hints that the new Sony CEO speeded up the NEX-FF photocamera project and it will not be announced in early 2014. It will come within 2 months. UPDATE: Availability still to be expected in 2014. This is the day I was waiting for a very long time. I am working right now on the specs and lenses. I kindly invite you to spread the rumor and follow SAR by subscribing the RSS feed (Click here) and Twitter (Click here) stream and the Facebook fan page (Click here). What’s coming soon will be amazing. I promise it ;)

One more thing: Sony will surprise us with many new camera announcements soon ;)

Andrea
