(Continually updated) Sony conference Live from CES!
We embedded the Sony live stream in this post. You can also follow the conference at ustream.tv. The conference starts at 5pm Las Vegas time (that’s 1am in the night in London).
UPDATE_5: It was a pretty uninteresting conference. 1 hour of talk about all kind of stuff with no very interesting digital camera news.
UPDATE_4: Sounds like Sony will talk about 3D stuff only. Meanhwile DPreview published the Press Release about the new Sony compact cameras.
UPDATE_3: Conference started! Of course the first theme is 3D…
UPDATE_2: What we can expect to be shown at the conference: New bloggie cameras, compact cameras, new 3D videocameras and more consumer stuff. Sony could also choose to not talk about NEX and Alpha cameras and just show the new prototypes at the Sony booth in Las Vegas.
UPDATE_1: Just to keep me and you busy -> I received some unreliable rumors from new sources. Like for example that Sony will announce a mirrorless partnership with Nikon 
Sounds almost impossible! As I said in the previous post. Keep the expectations low….for now.

2 years ago |I think I’m a bit more excited about Cirque du Soleil’s Elvis show than about the loads of 3D tvs and 3D snapshot cameras and 3D blogger things, but, it was a good presentation. Except for that repeating shot of the Niagara Falls on one of the tvs on the stage, that was dull.

Sony thinks about the consumers?!?
Try telling that to the people who are waiting for a A700 upgrade for 2+ years.

1. He (the later interview) is president of Sony home entertaiment so he might not know the detail on alpha and Nex.
2. He tell that CES is not really the event to talk about photography equipment especially professionally. He said that PMA should be the event to announce such device.
3. He personally owns A55 and I would say he consider A55 as consumer device (and just release recently before CES 2011).
OK, may take on this I think when he said PMA 2011, I think we will see the A77 dSLT to ship (commercially available) by then and also more advance NEX. And the announcement in PMA 2011 is more for new FF dSLR. BTW, it is just educated guess by me.

I keep reading on this site wonderful talk of a 24MP a77 with low noise and maybe an a750 with an OVF too…………………….
But nothing from anybody that counts.
As much as I want to purchase the Sony 70-200 f/2.8 to replace an old beercan and an 85 f/1.4 CZ to use on my loved a850 I’m not going to do it.
I have the $$$ but I not going to spend them till I have a better understanding of what Sony’s doing.
I have budgeted $4000.00 for thee lenses to replace old Minolta glass in 2010 and now I’m caring the dollars over to 2011.
My goal is/was to have new glass paid for and in my bag before Sony ships a replacement for the a850/a900 product line and purchase that new camera and use my a850 as my second.
But I’m afraid that I may spend the hard earned $4000.00 lens budget and that with my other CZ and Minolta glass will be a big waste because Sony’s market is only consumer grade.
Sony please tells us what your plans are, I’m sure you know them, so I and others can decide what each of us separately need to do to protect our businesses.
Can I stay with my Minolta/Sony investment or do I need to start moving to Nikon or Cannon?
