Dutch store is already accepting A77 preorders (should be a mistake)

A dutch store (Dewinkel.nl) probably made a mistake and published the Sony A77 preorder options 10 days before the real announcement! I am NOT sure the price are correct (I am almost certain it will be cheaper!!!).
Those are the specs published by the dutch website and it looks like they copied it from my website because they used the exact same words!!!

10 months ago |They obviously copied specs from SAR! It is really good way to do promotion of store by “allowing” pre-orders of not launched camera. Just before a77 launch everyone searching for additional details about camera and find a store.
Fortunately we have SAR who do search job for us

They copied from that website someone linked which copied from SAR :p
Btw it make sense to show it more expensive. It’s hard to increase something’s price but it’s easy to lower it

However good deal. You can pre-order !

10 months ago |as for price its not unusual to charge a high price before relees. as retailers dont know how much it will cost them this can hapen right up to release. For the A35(+18-55) Amazon UK are charging £716. this is probably the dearest in the world but it has now arrived in retail outlets (inc. Sony’s officel retailers) for just £599

10 months ago |Just a publicity stunt. They know the rumours have been flying around, and what better opportunity to publish the rumour, much to their advantage. They know their web shop will be all over the net.
BTW, it’s the wrong picture, and there’s a typo in the ad. It should read “medio”, not “media”.
Don’t click the link.

10 months ago |Maybe hundreds, if not thousands websites “copied” SAR … or SAR “copied” from other websites. Some may re-write the wording, some copy-paste, some mention the source, some does not. Since it’s mostly about rumor, hard to say you own the IP right (unless you’re Sony).

10 months ago |Dont understand the complains about the price it´s a brand new camera and it´s a semi-pro camera with top spec and metal body…the competitors camera models are in the same price range…although the A77 is a brand new semi-pro camera it´s still cheaper than the main competitors Canon 7D and Nikon D300s that are two years old cameras.
Prices from the same site:
Canon 7D €1,449
Nikon D300s €1,249

10 months ago |Yeah but thats still €80 more for a two year old camera than for the brand new A77(if the list price €1200 is correct)…the street price on A77 will be lower than list price of €1200 when the A77 have been out on the market for a while…the Canon 7D hade a list price of €1649 when it was released.
€2000 for the A77 whit 16-50mm/f2,8 is pretty “cheep” too…on the same site the price for Canon 7D plus the 17-55mm f/2,8 is €2318.

10 months ago |The A77 with Sony’s limited range of SONY lenses isn’t going to tear people away from the Canikon equivalents unless it is significantly cheaper.
Why would anyone (except us) go for the A77 when you can get the D7000 for example and be assured of the Nikon badge, range of lenses and “safe” Optical View Finder?
Current D300s and 7D users aren’t going to bin their lens investment and swap to Sony any time soon either…
Yes the A77 will sell well to existing Sony/Minolta users and a few new users, but it isn’t going to be the Canikon killer people expect.

A product like this is aimed at luring those without a system to the Sony brand. And do trust – there’s a lot more of these people..

10 months ago |@SonyA77: You get the picture! If sony EVER wants to become nr 2 or maybe even nr 1 in the (semi-)pro segment…they HAVE TO really invest BIG TIME to pull this very brand-loyal group over the threshold…for example by launching a truly superb camera for a VERY competitive price……and that’s exactly what they’re doing right now if you ask me!
This huge investment will pay off in the long run…and Sony does have the right ‘bodymass’ to survive such a ‘blow’ easily. This will also create (open up) the right market for Sony to make creating a huge lens range ‘worth while’.
Just my take on things …but…oh well
Joel
10 months ago |Very true. I had ~$4k saved up a year ago – patiently awaiting the A77, but a once off trip to Europe forced my hand and I had to pick up a better body and lens sooner than Sony could supply a model that suited my needs. I eventually settled for a Nikon D7000, 17-55 f2.8, 35mm f1.5 and 10-24mm f3.5. That a big investment made into Nikon glass so I doubt I’ll be coming back to Sony any time soon. A great shame really as I was hoping to pick up the A77, but they’ve just been too damn slow with it!
Atmo-Sphere
10 months ago |@SonyA77: If you ask me: You get the picture!
If sony EVER wants to become nr 2 or maybe even nr 1 in the (semi-)pro segment…they HAVE TO really invest BIG TIME to pull this very very very deeply invested and therefore very very very brand-loyal group over the threshold…
How?? Well…For example by launching a truly sensationally superb and innovative camera for a VERY competitive price……and that’s exactly what they’re doing right now if you ask me!
This huge investment (selling this camera with little or maybe even no significant instant profit) will no doubt pay off in the long run…through (semi-) pros sticking to Sony and buying relatively FAR more high end lenses, the successors of this supercamera….and ofcourse other expensive peripherals like vertical grips, flash units, remote controls etcetera.
Sony does have the right ‘bodymass’ to survive such a ‘blow’ easily.
This will also create (open up) the right market for Sony to make creating a huge lens range really ‘worth while’….something that Canon and Nikon already have had for years and years now. I think THAT is why their lens-lineup has been more extensive. They DO have the buyers to sell those super expensive ´toys´ to…THE (SEMI-) PRO’s!!…Sony does’nt….YET!!
I Know…Just my personal take on things …but…oh well
David
10 months ago |Again, what is lacking so badly about the lens lineup?
Everyone keeps saying this. Yet we have cheap, good quality lenses. And 16-35, 24-70, 70-200 are all as good as L lenses. So are the primes.
A few mid-range lenses would be nice. Maybe a tilt-shift and an ultra-tele. But most D7000-level users aren’t going to be needing 600 f4 lenses any times soon! You could have a totally competent setup using Sony gear. Unless your needs are incredibly specialised, the current selection is more than big enough.
At this point, the “lens lineup” argument is more of an excuse. The real reason people don’t buy Sony is because Canon and Nikon are the obvious choices. Read any review website, ask on a forum, and people will recommend Canon and Nikon stuff. Ken Rockwell, love or hate him, is a massive influence as he is the first google result for almost everything. He has reviewed about 2 Sony items and was critical of them.
Sony simple needs more presence. More good reviews. More advertising. More referrals and recommendations by “trusted” people. Establish themselves as a big player, and not as the 3rd party.

10 months ago |Smart. Getting attention ahead of the pack so they can go to this store instead of…Mediamarkt or Saturn etc.
Wasn’t it at this rumor blog that the base price was increased? Well 1200 euro’s sounds like pre-order price. It may well drop to just above 1000 for the body only, when they will become easily available and after few months of first batches.
Speaking of first batches, as with all electronics these days, beware of early-batch problems…

10 months ago |Can anyone help? I am based in the UK but will be travelling to the US after the A77 is released. If I buy an A77 in the US, will there be any video compatibility issues? I understand there might be ie Sony tends to record in NTSC only for US sold cameras unlike Nikon or Canon? Whereas European standard TV is PAL. And does it actually matter given I have an HD TV, multi-region DVD player and I understand that HD standard is universal?
The saving could be significant.
Many thanks
