First images with the new Voigtlander Heliar-Hyper Wide 10mm f/5.6 Aspherical

One week ago I got the new 10mm Hyper wide angle from Voigtlander and it has been on the camera almost full time. I am a wide angle junkie since I bought the Pentax Fisheye Takumar 4/17 mm in 1970 :-)
I own the 12mm Voigtlander M-mount for a few years now and of course could not resist to order the new 10mm.

This is not supposed to be a review, I want to share some of my first pictures taken with the Hyper Wide on the Sony A7RII and the A7R infrared converted (720nm) B&W images.

The strength of this lens is architecture, external and internal. For landscapes I prefer stitches images, you get any desired resolution and any angle of view. For street it will be difficult, if you have people on the image. It is not for people off center (if they are still your friends), they will be horrible distorted.

You will find these images and many more in higher resolution with full Exif here in my flickr album.
I would like to start with city scapes, where this lens shows its strengths and it is easy to shoot super wide without experiences and too big problems.
Shooting very wide lenses you have to watch the level in the finder carefully, otherwise you have to correct the vertical distortions in post and loose some angle of view of this great lens.

you find the scene of next two images below made in B&W infrared taken a bit later (different mages, different camera!)

on this one you will notice the reflection from me in the window. The window is of course exactly at 90° from me, hard to imagine :-)

5.

this was supposed to be just a test, but it is quite usable. I took it at about 11 PM hand held with 1/5 sec., thanks to IBIS in the A7RII.

internal architecture

the same stairs,
on the previous image I stood on the left side of this image under the white lamps
you see, that there is not much distance to the doors and look at the window in the ceiling, it is almost directly over me!
8.

churches, a great motive for super wides
9.

the only one, where I used the extreme distortions for the composition

the following is the organ of the previous image #11
I took the picture #13 standing at about the right side of this image, there was no more room
12.

less than 2m distance to the organ!
13.

the following images are made with the A7R infrared (720nm internal filter),
PP with C1 and some with Nik Silver Efex
these are my personal favorites :-)
this correspondences to image #1

this corresponds to #2

this is a normal 90° corner in our building, the camera has been about 80cm away from the corner of the wall

I hope, these images will give you an idea, what you can do with this special lens.
