Four new Schneider lenses for Sony! Zeiss lens announcement soon…

Good news folks! We have four new (expensive) A-mount lenses from Schneider Kreuznach! These are the new lenses:
85 mm/2.4 Makro-Symmar
28 mm/4.5 Super-Angulon Aspheric
35 mm/1.4 Xenon
50 mm/1.4 Xenon
There is no info about price and availability yet. We already have two Schneider lenses for Sony (here at BHphoto) and they are pretty expensive but maybe because they are T/S. Checked the Xenon lenses on eBay (Click here) but they are too old to get an idea about the price of the modern lenses. Anyway, I am pretty exited about the two 35mm and 50mm fast lenses! I am sure they are top quality!

One more surprise could arrive soon from Zeiss. As you know they will show new lenses for mirrorless system soon…fingers crossed guys!

9 months ago |The Sigma 35/1.4 looks good. Let’s hope it perfroms and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.
Thanks for the link.

9 months ago |waiit… how could I miss that?! These lenses don’t look like Sigma at all… they hired some decent designers finally!? Hm… I don’t know if it’s just me, but these look like really decent lenses
(although MTF and vignetting charts make me kinda… less excited)
Rolleiflex
9 months ago |I don’t see anything wrong with the MTF of the new 35/1.4. And since they classified it as an “art” lens, the heavy vignette might be on purpose
.
Carl
9 months ago |They certainly look a lot more modern and professional now, more so than Canons do, even. Now they just need to fix the unpleasant colour cast of their lenses and they’ll be a serious contender.

9 months ago |Big plus, on A-mount Sigma 35mm will get IBIS. I think it could be nice on A99..
Patrick
9 months ago |True. Sony’s own 35mm 1.4 is not on par with any of the competition. Would have liked to see one from Zeiss first but we’ll see how much Schneider wants for these.

9 months ago |These lenses are optimised for video and does not do AF am i right?

9 months ago |Mmm, I cannot open the BH site… so which ones issued for Alpha mount? 50 f1.4 and 35 f1.4? And btw admin, what is the SR level here? Or this is a confirmed story and not a rumor anymore? (apologies, I cannot open the BH site).

9 months ago |All for Alpha, press release from Schneider, to be announced tomorrow at Photokina, with more details
TM
9 months ago |No AF (goes without saying for the PC-TS lens). It’s a pity though, the 35 mm/1.4 Xenon und 50 mm/1.4 Xenon with AF would have found a lot of takers.
Also, Hassy mirrorless (???) announcement tomorrow. E-mount????

9 months ago |Where is the Zeiss 50mm f1.2? Is this not happening now, Admin? Tell us why didn’t Sony/Zeiss go with a 1.2?
Hugely disappointed–this would have been the real game changer.

9 months ago |Not for me………I do stills and have just a passing interest in video as of now, so expensive MF lenses are not for me.
I would be happy to purchase a new Zeiss 35/1.4 in addition to the 50/f1.4 if I decide to stay with Sony and not move.
I need to see so Sony A-Mount lens love before I reinvest in a new Sony full-frame.

9 months ago |Normally they will be 3 new Zeiss e-mount lenses ! from what i’m heard ! A wide angle, a standard and a Macro lens ! Hope this is true !!!!
AlexSSE
9 months ago |All of them are MF or some AF?
Andy Pandy
9 months ago |These. lenses will be on a par with the Zeiss manual focus lenses which are sadly only available in Canon & Nikon mounts. Schneider have also given information on 3 new lenses for Micro four thirds a 14mm f2, 30mm f1.4 & 60mm f2.4 macro, will these also be available in e mount or do they not cover the APS-C sensor, which would be a shame as the focal lengths seem more suited to APS-C sensor?

9 months ago |Zeiss MF glass with F bayonet in fact has… interchangeable bayonet! You can unscrew it and use A-mount instead quite easily. I did it myself and got one Zeiss converted to the A-mount. Really good lens
Try to google Leitax (Voigtlander SL II adapters work on ZF/ZF.2 lenses).

9 months ago |Very interested in the Sigma 35mm – here’s hoping they decide against recycling LensIDs this time (real pain in the arse trying to microadjust them on an a77 when it thinks they’re all the same lens…)
Steve
9 months ago |I quit trying third-party lens in part because of problems with micro adj on my a850.
Maybe new Sigma’s will be better than sigma lenses older than the camera itself

I wonder if you really thought about that wording before you typed it. Why is super expensive lenses good news? More humble Alpha mount users would really welcome mid-range Zeiss glass. You know, the 1500~1800 dollar stuff.
GB
9 months ago |1500$ for a lens is really humble ahahaha.
Tom
9 months ago |Full frame eMount lenses would be interesting, as a solution to compete with Zeiss Compact Primes for the VG900, but also for stills shooters as it would pave the way for Sony to eventually release an interchangeable lens version of the RX-1.
Carl
9 months ago |Those Xenons sound interesting. I wonder how they’ll perform.
