    The video on top shows the very first video taken with a modified Voigtländer 25mm f/0.95 lens. What has been modified? The mount has been permanently changed from Micro Four Thirds to E-mount. You can get that modfied version on eBay (Click here). You don’t have a lot of cheap options if you need ultrafast lenses. You can spend almost $1000 for the Canon 50mm f/0.95 and $10.000 for the Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95. You need an adapter for both lenses!

    the Sony NEX-VG10 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    the Canon 50mm f/0.95 at eBay.
    the Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

    As you know Sony canceled the new product announcements in very last minute. Unlike Nikon that today announced the new Nikon D5100. I guess also that camera uses sensors produced in Sony Fabs in Japan. A wonder if the camera shipment will be deleted. You can see specs and preview at DPreview (Click here). Price and preorders at Amazon (Click here). It has the same price as the Sony A580 and as the Sony A55.

    Is the new Nikon D5100 a wrothy A580/A55 competitor?

    BHphoto sent me an email with their latest NEX deals. If you purchase any NEX camera you SAVE $150 when bundled with either additional NEX lens (SEL-1855 or SEL-16F28) offering. Click here to see the list of all NEX cameras.

    UPDATE: I thought this was a new deal but instead it’s the same deal which is ongoing since January. Sorry. But I thought this should be a new deal if BHphoto sends me an email! :)

    A few days ago Sony canceled the new NEX-C3 and SLT A35 product announcements due the energy supply problems in some of their Japanese plants. I am constantly in touch with my sources and they told me that Sony has not yet decided when they will announce the new C-3/A35 cameras. The good news is that Sony will not delay the announcements of the important products. That includes the Sony A77 which should be announced in July. The NEX-C3 and A35 were just minor upgrades of the current NEX-3 and A33 cameras. One source told me that both do not have new features but just bring some “fixes”. The only major change would have been the new design of the NEX-3.
    P.S.: I posted the rumor with SR4 value only because I don’t want to bring bad luck :)

    Both cameras have been discontinued and (in some stores) discounted:
    The Sony NEX-3 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    and the Sony A33 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

    Reminder (SR = Sonyrumor):
    SR1=probably fake rumor
    SR2=rumor from unknown sources
    SR3=50% chance it is correct
    SR4=rumor from known sources
    SR5=almost certainly correct!

    Sony released a new press release with an update about the Status of Sony Group Manufacturing Operations Affected by the East Japan Earthquake.

    PRESS RELEASE
    (Tokyo, April 6, 2011) - Sony Corporation (“Sony” or the “Company”) today updated the status of Sony Group manufacturing operations affected by the March 11 East Japan earthquake, tsunami and related power outages, as of April 6, 2011.

    As of March 14, 2011, operations at ten Sony Group sites and facilities had been suspended as a result of damage caused by the earthquake, tsunami and related power outages. As announced on March 22, 2011, manufacturing operations at three of these sites had since resumed or partially resumed. As of April 6, 2011, manufacturing operations at five other sites have also resumed or partially resumed.

    Sony Manufacturing Systems Corporation, Kuki Plant (Saitama Prefecture) – Resumed on March 15, 2011.
    Sony Chemical & Information Device Corporation, Kanuma Plant (Tochigi Prefecture) – Partially resumed on March 15, 2011. Further expanded operations on March 23, 2011.
    Sony Energy Devices Corporation, Tochigi Plant (Tochigi Prefecture) – Partially resumed on March 22, 2011.
    Sony Chemical & Information Device Corporation
    Tome Plant (Miyagi Prefecture)
    Nakada Site – Partially resumed on March 28, 2011.
    Toyosato Site – Partially resumed on March 28, 2011.
    Sony DADC Japan Inc., Ibaraki Facility (Ibaraki Prefecture) – Partially resumed on March 28, 2011.
    Sony Energy Devices Corporation
    Koriyama Plant (Fukushima Prefecture) – Partially resumed on April 1, 2011. (Coin batteries, etc.)
    Motomiya Plant (Fukushima Prefecture) – Scheduled to gradually resume operations by the end of April 2011.
    Sony Shiroishi Semiconductor Inc. (Miyagi Prefecture) – Partially resumed on April 6, 2011.
    Sony Chemical & Information Device Corporation
    Tagajyo Plant (Miyagi Prefecture) – Currently undergoing cleaning and damage inspection.

    As also announced on March 22, 2011, manufacturing operations at certain manufacturing sites that were not directly damaged by the earthquake and tsunami have been adjusted in response to planned power outages and the availability of necessary raw materials and components. While the situation varies according to product, Sony is responding to fluctuations in material or component supply by adjusting production levels at the five sites announced on March 22, 2011, and also at certain other domestic and overseas manufacturing sites from time to time. However, as of April 6, 2011, none of those sites has been required to fully suspend operations.

    Sony will continue to monitor the availability of raw materials and components, and endeavor to maintain supplies of any products affected by these adjustments by relying on existing inventory to the extent available. The Company also plans to take further measures as necessary, including reallocating available materials and components among Sony Group companies, using alternative components and expanding procurement channels in order to restore full production capacity as early as possible.

    The Company is continuing to evaluate the full impact of the earthquake, tsunami and related power outages, including the impact of these production adjustments, on Sony’s businesses and consolidated financial results.

    If you are completely crazy about fast lenses that you should take a look on this. The Photographer Aldo Navoni used the De Oude Delft 50mm f/0.75 (!) on the Sony NEX-5. It might be worth t take a look on his Flickr page (Click here). I don’t know if there is any faster lens on earth you can use on a NEX!!!

    You can get the lens on eBay (Click here). But damn expensive!!!!

    To bad Sony had to delete the NEX-C3 and A35 announcements. But at least we got a very nice NEC camcorder! I am going to post a few interesting videos I found on vimeo. The video on top is a “funny” self-interview about the NEX-FS100. It’s a very informative preview!

    Alexander Schrott made a unique test. The video shows images of the NEX-FS100 taken with the excellent Canon FD lenses (Click here to see those lenses on eBay).

    SONY NEX FS-100 launch promo video.

    Mar Forman tested the camera in NYC. I am not allowed to embed the video so please click the link: http://vimeo.com/21783226

    Noise test at +30DB: http://vimeo.com/21969472

    The camera should hit the stores in July (Source: BHphoto).

    The current Sony Fullframe Flagship camera: The A900.

    I am still waiting to get some news about the delayed NEX-C3 and A35. But in the meanwhile I got first good news about the next Fullframe camera…oh wait cameras! Yes I have been told that Sony is now planning to release two FF cameras in 2012!

    One camera will have a low resolution sensor that can beat the ISO performance of the current Canon 5D markII and Nikon D3x cameras.
    The second camera will have a high resolution sensor to come very close to medium format cameras like the Pentax 645D and Leica S2.

    Very important: Both cameras will be SLT (translucent). And both will be announced in 2012.  They will certainly feature the same (if not better) 3 million dots OLED Viewfinder as the A77. We should expect a mockup to be displayed at the Cliq (PMA) show in September.

    I got the info from very good sources, but 2012 is still far away and I hope Sony will not change that roadmap! Sony is going to let us painfully wait a long time before we can get our hands on it!

    Links to the current Sony FF cameras:
    Sony A900 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    Sony A850 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

    Other cameras discussed in the article:
    Canon 5D markII at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay
    Nikon D3x at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    Pentax 645D at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    Leica S2 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

    You might have noticed that something has changed on SonyAlphaRumors. I am working closely with the other rumor website members to add some new stuff. Here is the list of the things we made:

    1) Design has been fixed for the new IE9 browsers. If you are still experiencing some problems (like on Chrome for example) please reload the website or clear the cache.

    2) SonlyAlphaRumors members can now write camera and lens reviews. Rate the product you own and link to your personal website or image collections! This will help other SonyAlphaRumors readers to learn more about a specific camera/lens.

    3) You can now edit your own comment if you need to do so.

    4) There is also a new forum. We are still working on it but comments you write below a post will be automatically posted inside the forum too. As you know I do post 2-3 news per day and at a certain point it gets difficult to read new comments on an older post. Inside the forum the topic with the latest comment will be always on top! Here is the link: http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/forums/

    5) I also created a new shop-plugin which should work for those countries (country codes): AT, AU, CA, CH, CN, DE, DK, ES, FI, FR, HK, IE, IT, JP, NO, PL, SE, SG, UK, US. I will show you an examples how it works. If you are physically located in France than you should see shop links to Amazon/Pixmania and ebay France. If you are currently living in one of the listed countries please check if the system works. Example: Sony A55 links to Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay. Is it correct?

    Feel free to make suggestions for new features if you have some. Keep in mind that we are running on buddypress and there are many plugins we could use! Thanks!

    Doh! I missed to post the new Lensbaby Composer Pro announcement! “The new lens refines and enhances the classic Lensbaby Composer by upgrading the swivel ball and focus mechanism to provide professional performance. It now delivers an ultra-smooth focus and tilt control and you have a fluid and accurate dampened focus ring comparable to the focus mechanisms of the highest quality professional manual focus lenses.”

    The lens is already in Stock at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

    There is also a version with Pre-installed Sweet 35 Optic at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

    Kurtmunger (Click here) tested the Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 II APO EX DG Macro HSM lens for Sony: “Final thoughts; Sigma’s quality control is awful, I used three lenses for this review, the third lens they sent me was a winner.  If you want to try your luck, and are patient, you might wind up getting a good one, at which point you’ll be hard pressed to tell the differences between the Sigma 70-200mm F/2.8 HSM II and the Sony 70-200mm F/2.8 G, in both sharpness, focusing accuracy and speed.  At the time of this review the Sigma is about half the price of the Sony, which makes it a great bargain…..only if you get a good one!

    Compare the price of the two lenses:
    Sigma 70-200mm at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
    Sony 70-200mm at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.

    One more thing: Tamron officially announced that the new 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II PZD lens will start worldwide shipment on April 15. It costs $649.00 and is already available for preorder in some stores. Check those direct links: Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
