Firmware update for the NEX-5/3/C3 and VG-10 coming in mid-december. (40 posts)

    Sony Japan confirmed that there will be a new NEX-5/3/C3/VG10 firmware in mid-december. It will bring the support for the new LA-EA2 adapter. But I do hope there will be also other major new features and improvements coming along the update.

    New features? Then wouldn’t it apply to the NEX-5N as well? Unless Sony want to shaft the new buyers.

    I live in Israe and want to bye good qulity 5n I think it is a good choice not only for photo but also for video that I want to take a lot.
    I local stores 5n prise is about 1100$. To book it from ebay with shipping is about 780-800$ with vat I can receive it by 920-940$ and save about 150$. But any reseleer in ebay that ships to israel says their cameras have clicking problem ( I hate sony for this cliks :) )

    May be with this FW update sony can allow 1080p on C3 (I do not believe there is hardware limitation for this).
    In any case wihout 1080p on C3 I do not see any reasone for any one to bye it…

    P.S price of nex-C3K in local stores 700$

    I’m pretty sure there will be an update for the NEX-5N as well, especially with lens compensation for these announced lenses that aren’t available right now.

    But so far the firmware updates for NEX-5, 3, C3, VG10 & FS100 need to bring the lens compensation feature already implemented in the 5N plus at least some of the advanced movie features from VG20 to VG10 and from 5N to 5/3/C3, possibly also ISO 100 and hopefully more customizable softkey functions either. AVCHD 2.0 would be really big, but I doubt that, and something I’m really hoping for is ISO displayed in Auto mode…

    probably creative style in PASM mode?

    expanded softkey customization, 5 instead of 3 would be good.

    The sooner the better for this firmware. I pre-ordered NEX 7 and LA-EA2, and received only one of the 2, and would really like to be able to use this adapter on my NEX 5 until the 7 arrives.

    Just thought it might be worth noting that prices for the LA-EA1 have plummeted – got a new one last week at B&H for $132.00. Why would I want both adapters? Macro lenses? Landscape? Manual focus with focus peaking is very quick.

    For those who insist on a flip up mirror in the SLTs, NEX plus both adapters is almost the same, no?
