I wonder how it compares to the Samyang.

can someone explain to a photography newbie what a 180 degrees lens is?

  • Avatar Image anonymous said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

To bad it’s not a diagonal fisheye, like the Samyang 8mm f/3.5

I find diagonals much more useful.

@Waldomarek: take a look at the example photos.

It’s a lens that gives you a 180 degree view in each direction.

Finally a 180 degree fisheye for E-Mount! Too bad it has such bad CA problems … Yeah, fisheyes generally have CA, but this seems a bit too much. (LOL, I almost wrote too bad it has barrel distortion problems ^^)

I still think the Samyang 8mm will be better I have the A mount version and its great

  • Avatar Image Poki said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

Yeah, the Samyang is pretty much the best fisheye you can get for 300 bucks. And the new 7,5mm is even small enough — and faster, which can be handy sometimes even at a fisheye.

    +1

  • Avatar Image anonymous said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

Samyang 8/3.5 already had 180 degrees. This lens is a lot smaller, but the new Samyang 8/2.8 will likely be much more desirable.

EDIT: Ah, apparently its rendering is different from the Samyang lenses. Less useful for me, but perhaps someone really needs a circular fisheye.

  • Avatar Image anonymous said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

    how much does it cost?

  • Avatar Image anonymous said 2 months, 3 weeks ago:

Multiply the weight by the length, the divide by the diameter and multiply again by the max focal length – 533US.

    Quickly fixed in Photoshop, though.

+6 on “Red-Cyan fringe” is about right.
