4 months ago |Well, not really. There ARE some minor deals in there, but most of the discounts are actually ZERO or just $50 off the most recent price. They’re calling the a57 a $200 savings, when it’s just $50 cheaper than it’s been for the last 2 months.
Still, the a57 is the best camera deal in the history of photography at $498. Wow.

4 months ago |What cusomters? You? Most mxxum users have long jumped ship over to eos or nikon. Whats holding you back, the name and the lack of support and quality stuff over at Sony? Is it too bad for you to leave?
Jack
4 months ago |Yep, the $100 off the NEX-6 just replaces the free 16mm pancake that was offered last week. Even if you didn’t want the lens, it could be easily re-sold for about that much.
Le Star

Stan
4 months ago |And your point being?
Sounds to me like another attempt at “Doom and Gloom” line that sometimes goes around here.
bart
4 months ago |since you have a hard time teading i’ll wite it again so you get a second chance to go ove it. Sony hasnt made money since 2008. Anyone buying products from a company thats losing money is .oing to end up holding on to lemons. Did you catch that? In the face of reality you seem to be seeing rainbows. Attempt? Sonys been losing money since 2008, that not an attempt, that is fact. Try believing in something other than your fantasies for a change, mr. i like to buy produts from failing companies. You;re trying TOO hard to keep your job at sony, fantasy man.
Stan
4 months ago |And that’s the kind of immature response that I was expecting. With “keep your job at sony” and “seeing rainbows”. What you don’t realize “Mr”, is that not everyone has in their goals to sell their gear down the road. For me its a set of 3 lenses and thats it. Comparable lenses from Canon and Nikon are either worse or more expensive, which is weird, considering that Sony usually jacks up prices. If Sony sucks so bad, then WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING ON THIS WEBSITE? The way I see it is that instead of providing constructive points, you’re a canon or nikon fanboy, who’s trolling…
And trust me, 99% of people who visit this website, know about problems that Sony has.

Do a google search for:
“Final Japanese market share analysis for 2012.”
Digital camera (integrated lens)
Canon 17.6
Sony Corporation 16.5
Nikon Corporation 14.1
Digital camera (SLR)
Canon 52.7
Nikon Corporation 35.1
Sony Corporation 7.1
Digital camera (SLR mirror-less)
Olympus 29.8
Panasonic 23.3
Sony Corporation 20.1 (ahead of CaNikon)

It’s not so bad really. Most everyone is struggling the past few years, people and corporations alike. It’s all relative.

4 months ago |So, bart, let me get this right, if a camera was made which was the best the world had ever seen, but it had cost the company so much money to create that they hadn’t made a profit for four years, you wouldn’t buy one????
What has the parent company making a profit got to do with the merits of the camera?
If Sony lose 2 billion dollars next year and then make 4 billion dollars the year after, I’m not going to struggle to use my camera for 12 months and then find it a breeze after that…you idiot!
Steve
4 months ago |If your happy with Sony’s approach and the offering match your needs then any savings are helpful.
If you are looking to Sony to be more like a Canon or Nikon offering a full and wide assortment of optical solutions then don’t be disappointed if Sony is not competing at same level in the product category you’re interested in.
Nikon DX shooters are complaining that FX products are getting all of the love the last few years and Canon shooters are disappointed in a proceeded lack of recent innovation in products. So every maker has its distractors.
Personally I no longer have the same expectation of Sony I had back in 2006 after the purchase of Minolta’s camera division and I’ve now lost the confidence of Sony’s optical leadership in leveraging the great opportunities given to them by offering Zeiss AF lenses for the A-Mount I had when I added the 24-70/f2.8 and the 16-35/2.8 to my bag in 2009.
It’s difficult for us, the consumers to know what Sony has planned for the A-mount by releasing what very well could be the most expensive 50mm lens in any camera maker’s lineup as it recently did the expensive 500mm and the recent re-release of the 300/f2.8. All of them more expensive than what Nikon and Canon sells.
I still have hopes that Sony will release a totally mirrorless A-Mount camera to make sense of all of this
