Image leak of the new compact cameras.
I know this is not the kind of news you particularly like but it’s just a proof that you should not expect new NEX and SLT stuff. The images on top do show the three new Sony compact camera that are going to be announced at the CES show on Monday. The W610, W620, W650.
The reason for Sony not announcing any new “serious” camera stuff is the production delay because of the Thai flood. First they have to go back to full production capability. As I already told you now even the NEX-5n is facing some serious stock shortage. From all new cameras the A65 is the only one in Stock at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here) and if I am not wrong the NEX-7 is in Stock at Fotomundus.
A bit of free Advertising: Probably the “Only” real new interesting camera announcement is coming form Fuji. neither Canon nor Nikon (a part of the D4) nor Panasonic really have to show somethign new. I was hopeing Sony would realise or even show the new NEX lens roadmap for 2012
I feel like a sitting duck, not knowing wether to stick with NEX or jump ship ( lucky me, Fuijs answer ain’t in the market yet and I can wait)

5 months ago |The rumor here about a “new” NEX camera with a different lens mount (adapter) makes me nervous and many here have written about a fundamental architecture (design flaw) that could keep the NEX from benefiting from a full frame sensor.
Since we all know that Sony was caught by surprised in consumer interest in the new NEX platform I fear that Sony designers have some tinkering left to make the system live up to its promise and this tinkering could make some of the current components obsolete.

The market is intensifying every moment. Come march Fuji Xpro1 is coming, Canon will make its move this year as well.
with 1dx , D4 , D800 … nex7 and a77 are soon looking like stale news.
Perhaps Sony carries with it the burden of its consumer electronics segment too much.

That said I think Sony is ahead in the camera game (A77, NEX-7) and we are just seeing the other guys coming in late now (not early). We are also getting spoiled expecting new revolutionary technology right after we just saw it. I have no doubt the A99 will be a killer worth it’s name and that whatever succeeds the NEX-7 will be equally impressive. I don’t expect it to be marketed just a few months after the current releases though. Let’s have some patience.

When I checked this afternoon, the only venues with SLT-A77 (body only) in stock were the Sony store and J&H. I’ve had an order in with the Sony store for a month and they’re now telling me not to expect my camera until April, so… I’m pretty sure their website is in error. I called J&H on the phone and they assured me that they haven’t had any SLT-A77′s in stock since November and they have no idea when they will get any.
