Is there a Silver NEX-7 coming?

I really don’t know what to think about this. A readers sent me that image showing an all silver NEX-7. I have no info yet if that is just a Photoshop work or a true camera. And I don’t know if it would make sense or not to offer a silver edition.

4 months ago |To be honest: I would prefer the 30/3.5 and the 50/1.8 in black over a silver NEX-7.

4 months ago |Hi Andrea, you should change the new “Vendor” tag at the top to separate NEX and A-mount posts. This isn’t Mirrorlessrumors, so we’re mainly going to be talking about Sony stuff.

4 months ago |That’s not a silver NEX 7, it’s just overexposed

4 months ago |Judd assumes that the picture of the camera in the paper and not the picture of the paper (with the camera in/on it) could be overexposed….. aiaiaiai
Vlad
4 months ago |Ha, might be that, although looking at the particular picture, don’t really find it possible

4 months ago |It’s very easy to fake a silver NEX-7 image. This one took me two minutes, and if I’d spent a bit more time and used a silver lens in the first place it could be made much more convincing.

Maybe, Sony will launch a silver NEX-7: looks
good for me.

4 months ago |That’s why I said if I’d started with a photo of an NEX-7 with a silver lens already mounted then the writing colour wouldn’t have arisen as I’d just not manipulate that bit of the photo. The top view would make that trivial. Of course it’s more difficult from other angles, but just a matter of spending enough time and care.
So my bet is it’s a Photoshop job. Given an hour or so, anybody could do a lot better job than the one in the article.

The Lotus Eater
4 months ago |You’re judging whether it’s a Photoshop job and saying anybody could do a better job based on that crappy photo?
Matt
4 months ago |Exactly what I said – made it negative.
Matt
4 months ago |Actually on a second look, making it negative would make the highlights shadows and shadows highlight. However the shadows in their image are still shadows (around buttons, wheels and flash) which would be quite a bit more difficult to do, not impossible just much more time consuming.

4 months ago |Even I can make these kinds of collages look anyway I want, so I wouldn’t read too much into it.
Whether a silver NEX-7 makes sense is another question. The NEX-7 is the most likely NEX camera that the Zeiss 24mm F1.8 prime will be used with and at the moment that’s only available in black. A black lens on a silver NEX-7 might look OK, especially if the camera has black accents, like a black rubber grip, LCD frame and eye cup which are usually black anyway. But I still prefer the all black look which I find is more in keeping with the nEX-7′s monolithic design.
jazzroy
4 months ago |it makes sense.
probably there will be a new nex camera announcement on march, but there’s no evidence in rumors and in common sense of a new model.
so probably they will announce a different color version, and most probable could be the silver nex-7

4 months ago |even on the silver lenses, the front part of the lens is still black. in that photo, it’s silver.
FAKE!

4 months ago |Silver on the NEX looks cheap. I guess we’ll see purple, red and blue later this summer.
calxn
4 months ago |There’s a good way to do silver and there is an ugly way to do it. I agree, the Sony silver looks like cheap plastic metal lookalike. It’s no surprise that Sony went black with their high end NEX. I think the silver thing must be a cost issue. I’m already cringing at how the silver 50mm is going to look on my NEX-7.

4 months ago |The lack of FF info is concerning. We are supossedly about 6 months from release or announcement, which can be worlds apart in the Sony world. Obviously by the number of comments, there is more interest in the new FF then the other posted info. Yet we have not heard much from the prototypes being used. I am starting to get concerned especially since I may want to get the 70-400G and would want to get it now because of the increase in lens price despite no apparent improvement in lens choices. Especially since I won’t be able to get the 500mm. The Nikon 800 looks pretty sweet and affordable

that’s much easier than making black versions of all of their other lenses, too.
