9 months ago |No tethered shooting on the A77? Are they kidding me? I thought this was a semi-pro model? Sony you bunch of idiots, I can’t use the A77 at work now and will be stuck using a Canon…do Sony actually have any idea about studio work?

9 months ago |It’s pretty poor but he did say to go on the Sony Facebook page and leave a comment. They may add it as a firmware update.

9 months ago |I actually asked Paul Genge about this recently and he said the following, “Hello John, thanks for getting in touch. Following the launch on Wednesday and the subsequent webcast we held we have heard the universal disapointment for the removal of tethered shooting. Also, we recognise the importance of audio level control for video shooting. We have fed this back to the Tokyo development team, and stressed the importance of both aspects. We await their response as to whether we can add these features at a later date. It will not be possible to add them in time for first availability in around a months time. When we get confirmation from Tokyo of their decision we will inform you through this page, and other portals. Thanks for taking the time to get in touch.”

9 months ago |Cant you use Eyefye or whatever it is for tethered shooting. I think doing tethered shooting woudl be nice to have but i cant say is a must as i survive quiet good without it.
im pretty sure ( dont quote me though ) that tethered should be able to be included in a firmware update though as i dont believe any more hardware woudl be needed.

Does that mean that by default the audio has auto-gain? That’s the worst! Glad they can fix it in firmware.

9 months ago |I found a couple Sony facebook pages, none specifically for their cameras. Is there one?
John Sison
9 months ago |You can use an eyefi card to send the photos to your laptop but tethering involves more than that. You can control the camera settings and control when the camera takes a photo of your subject without actually touching the camera. There are probably more advantages but none that I can think of at the top of my head.

9 months ago |Programmable itervalometer one such advantage to begin with . HDR / exposure stacking / Focus stacking. No nonsense interface similar to what canon desktop application has .. etc etc.

9 months ago |With real tethering you adjust the camera settings such as ISO, shutter, aperture etc., within the software. This is an absolute must have feature for a studio camera.
The point obviously is that the A700 already does it and the A77 MUST have it too if it is meant to be a serious camera, no extra gadgets required.
Have Sony actually given this camera to studio shooters for testing? Doesn’t sound like it to me.

You MUST provide tethering support! Inexcusable to leave it out. We live in a computer age… remember? A photographer should have NO ISSUES with controlling a camera remotely… NO ISSUES!
And while you’re at it… please enable USB port for a wired remote control on NEX cameras. Those I.R. units absolutely SUCK! Why did you put the receiver on the front of the camera? Just stupid… How do I look at the screen and fire the remote at the same time?
Wired remote = NO ISSUES, no delay, no inconsistency, no firing from others, and no forcing me to find the right angle to shoot and view.
You’ve created a big hassle in my life Sony shooting remotely with these new cameras. Please fix it. It should be simple. But I fear you will keep us waiting for years before fixing this obvious oversight. What were you thinking?
Yes, you could say I’m angry about this.

9 months ago |No Tethered shooting of this cameras!
Are you joking?
Cheap Canon Rebel, Nikon D50 and Olympus 4/3 can do tethered.
Wake up Sony.

8 months ago |Going to get rid of my Sony A900. It was the last of the three cameras, A700/A850/A900, that can shoot un-tethered with my ATG AK1 Un-Tethered Systems.
I and many were waiting for a better systems from Sony.
So they came out two models,
A77, cheap lens, flash and grip for over $2,500.00
NEX 7 and a slow lens for over $1,500.00
Both cameras CAN NOT shoot tethered.
Any beginner wants to spend over $1,500.00?
Sony made big mistakes when these cameras came out.
Many people are losing jobs and houses. And short on money to come up with over $1,500.00.

7 months ago |It is sad that Sony has not included tethered shooting on the A77 first release. Probably costing them loads of sales for this holiday season.
Please fix this with a firmware update. It would be nice if the added tethered shooting to the Sony A55 as well.
