2 years ago |These cameras were out of stock for so long, and now they’re being given rebates, presumably to move stock, but at a lower price? What a crazy marketing strategy.
On the other hand, is stock being sold off in anticipation of a new model or two?
These are interesting times. However, it’s good if we have other things in our lives that can demand our attention and interest, because getting obsessed over this will not be good for a person.

2 years ago |Hmm, interesting. The A900 have been sold with a lower price for a long time now, but the NEX and A33? Could this possibly mean that they’re making room for another SLT camera in the consumer (or prosumer) level?

2 years ago |A33 is available everywhere (every big box store, and small retailers) in Canada so I suspect either there is a big stop or is not selling so well. A55 is hardly available (not even sonystyle store have it as a demo at least), and when becomes available, from time to time in a few specilaized stores it sel sin hours.
NEX3/5 howeever are available everywhere, even in stores which carry only PS cameras. I did not see an A900 for a long time in any store.

NEX-5 I have is a great camera, but I was motivated by the sale price of $700CDN (taxes, 16mm 18-55mm all in) last December.

2 years ago |I always wonder what drives the decision makers to offer a discount on any given instance. I wonder if they see an opportunity to gain new customers, or do they want to increase demand to keep the manufacturing at the same pace, or do they really need to clear inventory for new models or, do they see a weakness in their competition’s inventory levels and want to press the advantage, or do they need to keep their retail partners happy by driving business, or some combination of the above, or do they … It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall when some of decisions are made.
