Matt commented on the blog post (SR5) New E-mount lenses coming along the NEX-F5! 2 days, 17 hours ago · View
Ok if I had to have a wishlist, I would like Sony to do the following: A-Mount – Easy choice 16mm 2.8 Easy choice 24mm 2-2.4 Easy choice 135mm 2.8 Easy choice 200mm 2.8-3.5 E-Mount – Replicate easy choice lenses, simply make them less ‘chunky’ than easy choice A’s with LA-EA1 ie slim them down [...]

I love all the spexperts on SAR (that’s Self Proclaimed Experts). Sony NEED pro blah blah is all I ever hear! What Sony NEED are what Sony has just announced, these are the things that keep Sony in the market at all, for them to even consider making higher end models. These are the things [...]

How is the A37 better than the A57 apart from maybe the way the screen tilts? In regards to all other comments on video, the A37 is the same – oh except it doesn’t DO 60p. Well the A57 doesn’t have to do 60p either, but at least on that model you have the choice. [...]

5n has better video. It also has a touch screen. Electronic first curtain shutter, can’t seem to find that spec anywhere for the F3. But the F3 does look pretty nice, especially happy with the EVF add-on-ability.

No. Sony will never update the 5n

Matt commented on the blog post (SR5) At least four major new lens introduction at Photokina! 6 days, 8 hours ago · View
Doesn’t that make it 6 lenses this year at least? (though not sure you can really count the ‘new’ 18-200mm E). I am wondering if Sony will market the ‘new’ 18-200mm for their stills and keep the old one for their video cameras? Maybe make the ‘stills’ one a bit cheaper and do some new [...]

Matt commented on the blog post (SR2) The next “chinese” A99 rumor 1 week ago · View
Hmmm 3 million dot EVF? I’m guessing either a 1280×800 16:10 or 1366×768 16:9 to get to that figure. 25% more dots isn’t a huge increase and only really corresponds to those wide aspect standard resolutions. Hopefully they actually use all that real estate unlike the a33/55.

Matt commented on the blog post (SR2) Will the Sony 18-200mm NEX lens be a Tamron clone? 1 week, 4 days ago · View
This makes no sense? Will it be cheaper than the non-rebadged version? Will Sony stop producing the other one? I just can’t see why Sony would rebadge the Tamron when they make their own 18-200mm unless they are updating/changing/lowering or something???

Agreed. He was being sarcastic and very tongue in cheek about it. Also the words he used were specific to the ‘Japanese TV’ style they were attempting/failing to recreate. As for your other comments, do you actually feel somehow threatened by this kind of feature? As a professional I assume you want to be able [...]

While I agreed, those Pros can simply ignore that feature, it is there to make the camera appeal to another market, but not something Pros should be concerned about having in their camera.

I didn’t watch the second video, but DRev seemed to give it a big thumbs down so I don’t know where you are getting that idea from? Yes it is a gimmick, one aimed at the type of demographic the A57is aimed at – this is not to say all those who will buy an [...]

Can anyone tell me if the A57 does higher ISO than 1600 in video? I know the 16MP sensor has been used higher than 1600 in NEX-5n and a55 etc but am wondering if the A57 does also compared to the 1600 ISO limitation of the A65/77

Had to send it away for repair. From memory I couldn’t adjust aperture of access AF, with the 16mm it worked fine.

Build means very little when you can buy 6 of the Sigmas for price of 1 Zeiss.

2-stops? Hardly. Try 1 1/3 stops. Also the DOF would be almost the samr as the Sigma is a longer FL lens (assuming you are talking the 30mm).

I bought my X100 for exactly the same reason. That plus upgrading an earlier NEX to a 5n or 7 to have an EVF and perform as well in low light plus the cost of the Zeiss 24mm would have ended up costing 3x what I paid for my X100. Obviously if you already have [...]
