BMan commented on the blog post Sony annnouncement soon…. 4 days, 13 hours ago · View
Re: the awerness I completely agree. Just this tuesday, I was standing in as a camera man for a colleague, and I brought my a55 along just for kicks (also to see how its video compares to the nxcam). The official photog for the event was a guy that I know for more than 3 [...]

BMan commented on the blog post (SR5) A99 price range set between $2,500 and $3,000 5 days, 10 hours ago · View
Unless this will seriously contend with the D4 and 1Dx it will be another flop. And in order to conted it has to have a buffer for bursts FAR longer than just 1 second, dual cards (with duplicating and similar options) and other features that the before mentioned cameras have as standard. Not that I [...]

BMan commented on the blog post (SR3) New Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 coming along the new FF camera in August. 2 weeks, 3 days ago · View
But you don’t get AF and in camera aperture control.
I think that the new ZA will be another outstanding performer, and the price will be outstanding as well (just like (most) other ZA lenses). -
BMan commented on the blog post Surprise! Is the Sigma 30mm the best of all available E-mount lenses? 2 weeks, 3 days ago · View
Well, the fact that sigma makes good lenses is not new to some of us.
I actually owned a 70-200/2.8 that bested my MinO 200/2.8 HS.
I also still have an ancient 24/2.8 that is simply remarkable.
Price does not imply quality, thankfully! -
BMan commented on the blog post Sony 36 Megapixel FF sensor versus Medium Format. 4 weeks, 1 day ago · View
What a bunch of douches! “… and somebody will have the exact same camera. That’s something we can’t have as professionals …” No wonder, they even have a bunch of apple computers, even though eizo and/or nec monitors and for example the HP dreamcolor laptops have waaaaaaay beter color accuracy than anything else on the [...]

BMan commented on the blog post Good news! Sony wants to push the Imaging Division (and 4K technology). 1 month, 1 week ago · View
Oh my …
The alpha range is in the consumer part …
That does not bode well.
We’ll just get more and more gadgets and less and less designed-for-professional-usage cameras and lenses. Screw that! -
BMan commented on the blog post (SR4) Sony 18-135mm lens coming in August only (still lens production issues?) 1 month, 1 week ago · View
Well SONY had no 7 class camera for about a year and a half! But that might have been careful market strategy … And now, there is no class 9 (or FF) and I’d bet to venture that with all the promised delays it will take at least till new year to see something new. [...]

So, when will the A99 ship?
Early 2013?
Wouldn’t be surprised if it would be true in the end … -

Exactly!
A rotating mount (in a custom direction) could do wonders really with such a sensor. Where can I patent this?

BMan commented on the blog post Internal Sony OVF verus EVF debate rumors… 2 months ago · View
Of course, the super expensive LCDs are better or at least similar in colors, but then we have the black problem with LCDs, and uneven backlight, and the graininess of IPS panels, … A good 22″ CRT beast still beats the crap out of 99,9% of LCDs out there. Of course it consumes loads more [...]

LCDs are still not better than CRTs in color reproduction.
Likewise EVF will take decades to completely overtake OVF in most regards. -
BMan commented on the blog post Internal Sony OVF verus EVF debate rumors… 2 months ago · View
Actually, the difference between OVF and EVF is not just in the VF and the translucent mirror. The SLT cams have the AF modules in the top, where the prism/pentamirror would be. The SLR cams have them in the bottom. The SLTs meter off the main sensor, the SLRs need another metering sensor somewhere … [...]

+1
Just look at all the gizmos in the new SLTs.
No “photographer” be it a paid pro or a serious hobbyist needs all that gadgetry. But the gadget folks just love these new SONYs. I guess this is what SONY does best.
And with this the minolta roots finally die off. -

So … There is no clear plastic prototype, there is no prototype at all, and we are to believe that this camera will be on sale in October? It would be too good if it would be true. We have seen the clear prototypes of the A900, the A77 and afaik the A700. So why [...]

Ok, I will make one last post to clear this up, then I’m done. I respect this site, and I respect the effort that you put into it. However within the last two years I have seen a HUGE change. Before the A55/33 this was a true rumours site. A couple of sources from within [...]

I know he is not the oracle, nobody is. But PLEASE use common sense (admin is included here). Why? It was claimed that the A77 had a dual CF/SD/MS slot thingamagick, when in reality no prototype shown by SONY to that date had a CF slot! It was then “sad news” that it was not [...]
