  • Poki commented on the blog post Surprise! Is the Sigma 30mm the best of all available E-mount lenses?   2 weeks, 3 days ago · View

I like the results – and that there are some affordable good primes for the NEX-system! As I personally don’t really like the focal lengths (i much prefer 14/16mm and 24mm) and they’re a bit slow, I went with the really excellent 24mm CZ. On my NEX-5 I can’t really see the “bad” borders at [...]

  • Poki commented on the blog post UPDATE: Zeiss 24mm and 50mm for NEX finally in Stock at Amazon!   3 weeks, 3 days ago · View

Well, that’s personal preference. The Sigma is also pin sharp and seems to have a nice focus ring. But I simply couldn’t get away with f/2.8 for a standard prime and I also don’t like anything longer than 35mm eq as standard. So yeah, there’s no “best lens for everybody”.

    Absolutely!

Ähm… no one who is serious would use AF in video at all. So better no AF with great quality than perfect AF with lacking quality..

  • Poki commented on the blog post Sony NEX-7 with Black kit lens in Stock at Amazon US!   2 months, 1 week ago · View

Steve Huff wrote at his review he asked Sony about a kit with the Zeiss lens and they said it won’t gonna happen. So don’t wait for it – it may never come.

  • Poki commented on the blog post New Madoka fisheye lens for NEX.   2 months, 4 weeks ago · View

Yeah, the Samyang is pretty much the best fisheye you can get for 300 bucks. And the new 7,5mm is even small enough — and faster, which can be handy sometimes even at a fisheye.

  • Poki commented on the blog post New Madoka fisheye lens for NEX.   2 months, 4 weeks ago · View

Finally a 180 degree fisheye for E-Mount! Too bad it has such bad CA problems … Yeah, fisheyes generally have CA, but this seems a bit too much. (LOL, I almost wrote too bad it has barrel distortion problems ^^)

  • Poki commented on the blog post HOT! New Sony NEX lens roadmap!   3 months, 1 week ago · View

Well, you’re right. I was just wondering ‘cos minolta man bashed the Zeiss lens (or other Sony Zeiss lenses). As far as pro lenses are considered, we really need a 85mm pro portrait lens and one f/1.2 or 1.4 lens. But hey, there are 8 lenses in the next 2 years, so in some years [...]

  • Poki commented on the blog post HOT! New Sony NEX lens roadmap!   3 months, 1 week ago · View

What’s wrong with the 24mm Zeiss for E-Mount? I got one two weeks ago and absolutely love it! And Kurt Munger already says it’s on par if not better than the 24mm for A-Mount – which really is a top notch lens.

And just out of curiosity, what’s a Hologon?

  • I live in Austria and here it’s correct like this:

    4.000 – four thousand
    4,0 – four
And as far as aperture is concerned, a point is also correct, like f/1.8.

    But I think it’s pretty irrelevant … don’t you?

  • Poki commented on the blog post HOT! New Sony NEX lens roadmap!   3 months, 1 week ago · View

Hmm.. what could the pancake be? I mean, they won’t make another 16mm or 24mm lens (well, it may be a 24mm, but then there’s no point buying it – it’s probably slower and worse than the Zeiss one), and 35mm should be supplied by the “big aperture prime”, so maybe a 40 or 60mm?

  • Poki commented on the blog post In short: Sigma lenses for NEX, Sony 500mm prototype and CES booth.   4 months, 1 week ago · View

The Sigma isn’t a macro, so f/2.8 is very usable as a standard lens. Remember, the 30/3.5 also doubles as slowish standard lens – most people won’t buy it purely as a macro lens. But you’re right of course – if you want a short macro (or any macro, as you look on the NEX [...]

  • Poki commented on the blog post (SR5) A minimum of six NEX lenses will be announced this year!   4 months, 1 week ago · View

    +1

This would be the best wide angle zoom they could give us, but I think they’ll go with a 12-24 f/4-5.6 instead to keep the price down. (It’s neither a “G” nor a Zeiss lens, so it should cost less than these…)

  • Poki commented on the blog post (SR5) A minimum of six NEX lenses will be announced this year!   4 months, 1 week ago · View

It’s actually nearly as expensive as the 70-300mm G lens. Maybe a “G” lens should be build a bit better which would higher the price – but maybe Sony just don’t want to ship a G-lens as a Kit-lens.

It’s interesting to see that the standard zoom is a “G” lens, while the A77 kit lens is not although many users say it’s even better then the Zeiss standard zoom. Does that mean this lens is necessarily better than the A-Mount 16-50 f/2.8?

  • Hannes Brecher commented on the blog post In short: Sigma lenses for NEX, Sony 500mm prototype and CES booth.   4 months, 1 week ago · View

Hmm.. it’s a bit odd. We have a not so great Sony 30mm 3.5 macro with “cheap” metal body and a (let’s assume) okay good 30mm f/2.8 plastic fantastic Sigma lens. Now what’s to buy if you want a 30mm lens? I really couldn’t decide. The Sigma one looks nicer, has the perfect size and [...]

  • Hannes Brecher commented on the blog post Zeiss for NEX and A65 in Stock . First supply problems with NEX-5n.   4 months, 2 weeks ago · View

Andrea, I made a very exciting sighting these days: The Zeiss 24mm is cheaper in Austria than anywhere else. Here Sony charges “just” 819 Euro for it (799 in most stores), where in Germany you have to pay 999€. Importing from Hong Kong comes in at around 940 Euro, the Canadian price is about 870 [...]

  • Hannes Brecher commented on the blog post Hot: Sony talks a bit about their plans in 2012!   5 months ago · View

    So the 35mm f/2 and 85mm f/2.8 are coming! Hell, it’s about time … ;)

But imagine the lens roadmap after these two lenses + the three already promised lenses for 2012. Could it get any better (except for super telephoto lenses)?

  • Hannes Brecher commented on the blog post (SR4) New Noktor HyperPrime 23mm f/1.7 lens coming soon?   8 months ago · View

I talked to the guys from SLRMagic some weeks ago about the CCTV-lens-critics. They told me they didn’t start from scratch and borrowed some of the basic optical designs from other lenses like the old Noktor, which maybe basically was a CCTV-lens (there’s a CCTV-lens which looks exactly the same btw.) and improved it to [...]

And 1080p video vs 720p on the NEX-C3. That are enough differences for a price just 100 bucks above the C3.
