Well, I suspect the quality will get there with the EVF. But after a recent trip to my local electronics store and trying out the A77, I went home and ordered myself another A900. Sorry, but I prefer to see what is actually there in the shadows and highlights, and adjust my exposure accordingly.

Would love this lens. But considering the 300 2.8 SMM retails for $6999, no telling what the 500 f4 will go for.

36 mp is only too much if dynamic range, and ISO range, have performances sacrificed in any way. I’d rather have clean high ISO at 25600, then extra MP at 100 ISO. More importantly for me is the OVF. I finally held and experienced the A65 a few days ago, and frankly was a disappointed. [...]

Yeah, frankly I’m fine with less pixels. 16 MP @ 10 fps would be fine. I have the A900, and 24 MP is plenty for portrait work. I’d like to see better ISO performance. If that means less pixels, than I’m fine with that.

Agreed. I’d much rather see the higher ISO performance of the Nikon D3 on our 24 MP sensor, with higher ‘action’ frame rates, than a 36 MP sensor that falls badly off after 1600 ISO.

Agreed. Definitely better balance. A heavier body is easier to hold steady too. More resistance to minor camera shake. This is true with lenses too. I can hand-hold a 300 2.8 SSM, no problem. My Sigma 100-300 f4, much lighter, takes much more concentration to keep steady without shake.

Got to say, I’m wondering if this latest on “no CF cards” can be correct. Really makes no senses. Especially considering that Sony was part of a consortium that less than a year a go, helped to create a new faster standard for CF card design. Why would their next major, semi-pro camera release not [...]

For the record, I did convert my old K-Minolta files to DNG, but I currently stay with ARW files these days. I do like the newly improved rendering I get from Lighteoom 3, so that’s my default RAW processor these days.
Especially compared to Sony’s RAW software.
Probably due to give Bibble another try.
