tfd commented on the blog post No!!! See how you can replace a damagaed semitransparent mirror!
1 month, 2 weeks ago · ViewInteresting? C’mon. You would spend $1400 on a camera (plus memory card, maybe vertical grip, etc.), and then use food wrap for the mirror, rather than spend €70 on a new mirror?

Yes, and since this communication reportedly came from Sony US, one would expect it to be in reasonably well-stated English, like other communications Sony US puts out. But some people just like to argue and snipe, I get it.

Is that a translation of some sort? Hard to believe Sony would issue a corporate communication as poorly written in English as that one. Doesn’t sound right.

I thought that Sony is already considering a 500 f/4. Are you assuming that lens is coming so you didn’t ask for a vote on it? Might have been interesting to get the interest level for that lens.

A big +1, except I think it’s too early to judge what the EVF will be like on the A77, much less what it would be like on an A99 next year.

Just checked eBay for the Minolta 600. $7400 w/ tripod, and not even the high speed version. Probably better to wait (and wait) for the new Sony.

As one of the perhaps small group who would consider the 500 f/4, that delay is too bad. I’ll keep using the 500 f8 reflex for the time being.

Bracket suggestion –
Great that Sony continues to build out the line. Here is a suggestion for their next bracket offering. Easier to hold and allows quick release of the flash with a handle on it. Allows better lighting flexibility.

Admin, my statement isn’t wrong. I wasn’t talking about you or this site. I have never read you to be complaining about delays, you have merely been reporting on them, and quite properly and nicely, in my view. I was refering to a few people (the minority, but still more than one or two) who [...]

I envy your positive outlook and response to people. I agree that it will be a great sign when Japan is back up and running at capacity, and I am supporting them with purchases (and donations, thanks for the link). It’s just that I would just be embarrassed to be complaining about them not getting [...]

Stunning . . . Peoples’ lives are being turned upside down, while others are carping about when they will get their new cameras/lenses from those people. A crazy world.

Amazing that you even have to remind people of the points you make in this post. This is a great site, and always an interesting read about what might be happening, could happen, or is happening with Sony cameras. This site must be very valuable to Sony, too. Please keep it up!

How does an optically-stabilized lens interact with a sensor-stabilized camera body? Does it automatically disable one or the other stabilizer, or should the user shut one off?

These look like great cameras. But I just dont get why Sony doesn’t provide for raw format on these cameras. It would encourage more serious shooters who use the benefits of raw to consider these cameras for travel and similar use.

Really great that you took the time to lay out this analysis. The chart is illuminating, and the point you made about “duplicate” lens sizes for Canikon (to allow for IS, AF, etc.) is usually lost in the standard lens-count analysis. Not to say Sony doesn’t still have some work to do to get to [...]
