Metabones EF to NEX adapter updated and reviewed…
Canon EOS-M is out but you don’t have to buy that camera to use EOS lenses! Metabones just updated the EF Lens to E Mount Smart Adapter (Source: Dpreview). It supports electronic communication between the lens and your NEX camera. There is a Metabones review on the NEX-FS100 by EosHD if you want to learn more about it!
You can check price and availability of the adapter on eBay (Click here).

10 months ago |And comparing the Metabone adapter to Canon’s is still a bit unfair, since Canon do offer AF.

Except it leaves me kind of starving for lenses. Really hope Sony comes through with the E-Mounts at the end of the month. 16-50 2.8 is really all i’d need. OSS on it would be icing on the cake! Oh! And that 35mm 1.8 sounds good too!

10 months ago |Well, compared to Canon’s Cinema EOS solutions a Sony NEX-FS100 or even a FS700 with a Metabones adapter is an affordable and quite cheap bargain, especially since film makers use Follow Focus instead auf Auto Focus anyway. For all NEX photographers this adapter makes as much or as less sense as Sony’s LA-EA1.
But instead of reading always the same lamenting when it comes to topics like that I’m going out to use my new SEL-50F18 that I finally received yesterday. I really hope Sony’s so far only rumoured new E-Mounts will be available faster than one year after their announcement…

10 months ago |I realise AF is a nice thing to have, but one of my friends who shoots video professionally for commercial advertising and what not says he prefer’s manual focus anyway and doesn’t bother with auto-focus as he can control the transitions. This isn’t my area of expertise, but I would think that if focus peaking still works with this, then is there really any need for AF?

10 months ago |Why is there a Leica R lens on this EF adapter? First no AF needed, second no electronic connections are needed and third a 2nd adapter is required to adapt to the Metabones adapter.
So what will this give you on the EF to E mount? AF confirmation, distance and aperture info?
