My muse and I are searching for paracosm (Guest post by Sam Li).

Today SAR reader Sam Li has a great story to share!

Sam: “I follow your website religiously. It’s what made me decide to sell all my Canon gear to purchase the Sony a7. I recently just came back from a 22 day roadtrip across the west coast and shot these beautiful photographs with the Sony a7 + Zeiss 35 2.8.”

Artist Statement

Sam Li’s (22)  lifestyle portraits captures the natural beauty of strangers through intimate moments by celebrating imagination and youth. His photography entices the audience to enter his own “Paracosm-” daring them to reminisce upon their own.

paracosm (noun):
A paracosm is a detailed imaginary world created inside one’s mind – often described as a prolonged fantasy world invented by children; can have a definite geography, language and history.

Sam Li’s “Paracosm” began as a quest to capture isolated moments of youth in following his muse Jenna Lipps throughout the thick, thin and wilds of the West Coast. This desire lead to a successful Kickstarter initiative that funded their entire trip allowing for donors to feel included in the process.

The idea is that we have no way of apprehending our vision as years go by. No idea of what life has in store for us and how our lives and our mentality will differ 20 years from now. The Paracosm series stems from a desire to capture an expression of the joys of being young, wild and free.

Li and Lipps  began and ended the trip with a distinct understanding of how youth in itself must be cherished, as at times there can be very little solace in an escape from reality. Each photograph was chosen specifically for it’s ability to capture the effortless nature of the pairs innocent chemistry and youthful joie de vivre. In an essence they are the moments that best give the audience a view into their shared Paracosm.

The Paracosm exhibition invites its audience to capture the essence of what it means to live in each moment – etching that redeeming bliss into their memories.
