9 months ago |So… I’m going to need another adapter from Sony to make my 58 flash work on this damn ISO shoe. Better be a free one in the box!

9 months ago |The last few days have been intense for followers of this blog!
I don’t normally follow it that much over a weekend as our dear admin takes a needed rest and doesn’t post that much till Monday, but not this weekend….
I was up, and high with optimism about Sony then down with cynical despair, and this happen several times this weekend, so much so I was think about getting tested for bipolar disorder.
One post was full of writings about a new PRO NEX and the a99 having a flash (meh) and then not, and then out of the blue we learn that Sony is using their flagship full-frame sensor from the a99 in a pocket camera that is NOT a NEX, but it will have optional viewfinders and stuff………….. Ouch for the NEX crowd.
And it’s a fixed lens, and its $2,800 cool???
Let’s see, then I’ll need one in 35mm and a 85mm for now, but can I get a 70-400 zoom too?
Maybe that’s the future, lenses with build-in cameras
Hopefully we will learn that it’s not a fixed lens but then what would it be a E-Mount, and A-Mount or something new?
I think this week is going to be wild!

9 months ago |These pics of the NEX-6 look like a much more finished product than the previous leaked pics. This is definitely the love child of the NEX-5N(R) and NEX-7. For me this strikes the perfect balance for form and funtcion in the NEX line up…just need the the lenses ;-P

9 months ago |But they ommited to put an AUDIO-IN jack. So how the hell do you use external mic on NEX-6?

9 months ago |You can see the pop up flash on the a99 much more clearly in these images. It seems to be much smaller but useful as trigger. pretty exciting seeing these images, cant wait for the full specs.

9 months ago |Sure there are 1-2 details Sony may not have fit in. I don’t know if it is by design, but that’s how they keep me wanting to upgrade. Whatever, to me it is working. This is exciting. I love my A77, and I am ready to go full frame. Hopefully I will be able to recover some of the A99 costs by selling my A77. I’m looking forward to popping my 85mm f/1.4 on and seeing the edges of the lens for the first time.
The RX1 is intriguing and I like the 35mm f/2 lens as it is a throwback to an old Konica PS film body I have with the exact same length and aperture. When I went to Europe last year, I took only one body and one lens, the Nex-5 and the 16mm pancake and I got used to the idea of using a fixed focal length all the time. I now use the 85mm on my A77 95% of the time and I don’t own a zoom lens at all. I am not sure what I would buy if I had a zoom lens. I know I could live with the RX1, and it would be a lot easier to buy if I sold both the A77 and the 85mm lens, but then it would be a difficult upgrade path to the A99 successor.

9 months ago |So, a would be FF 36MP frp, Sony should be called A98 ? or A95? or A90?
Clifton
9 months ago |A higher spec camera may be called the A9, although the question still stands as to what they will call the successor of the A99.
The pictures of the A99 are very exciting and it is a beautiful camera, something Sony are good at lately, lets hope it performs up to the competition, I fear this is a big crunch time for A mount shooters.
