Finally I had the chance to sleep without having to work on leaks and rumors and whatever. Feeling like a young boy again! Now it’s time to catch up with some news about the Sony stuff announced yesterday. On top you see a hands-on video from videoacademy. Veyr inetretsing is the work done by ePhotozine. Samples of the Nex 6 at ISO 6400 look very good !!!

I wish too examine the images of the final product. I´m a Canon user but I´ve got a C3 and I´m in love with it…

I have been asking more and better lenses, and it seems that Sony is listening. Now I have some doubts to get the 5DIII (too much expensive and the 5DII still is a great camera despite the slow AF). The visor in the Nex 6 is another thing I was asking urgently… The only thing I ask to Sony is a Nex capable to lock exposure and focus with one touch… Bravo, Sony.

That seems to include a touch screen.

They don’t even shoot the 35mm lens for nex wide open. Because you TOTALLY buy a lens like that to shoot at f4

I just looked at the sample Images. I am very impressed. The images are said to be down sized,, I am very impressed . i was hoping for a faster frame rate than 6 at full frame,, and then 10 at crop,, but my guess is that that just cannot be done ,, with the current sensor design. That much data transfer is really intense. The over all IQ is SWEET ! I was a canon guy for years, and switched to Nikon. Nikon is very good, but I am about to add Sony in, and with what I see, I am going to be very happy. Wow,, thank you Sony.

it could be sony contracted out the design to Tamron, which is not exactly the brand with the best wide-angle zooms to begin with …

although at that price point and compared to other wide angle zooms on aps-c reflex, this nex lens should be top-level.

after a quick google search I found out it s made of 10 lenses in 8 groups while aps-c reflex wide angle zooms are more like 13 or 15 lenses in 10 or 12 groups. It could be the advantages of the short flange distance, although I guess (I really hope) it s a retrofocus design, so it should not have that many less lenses. Dunno the number of special and aspherical elements.

He’s wretched. Its painful to see the moire riddled shots of the Aston Martin going 18mph around mountain corners and a bunch of car club geezers baby-ing their $200,00 cars around a track. Sony’s bland videos of flamenco dancers and jazz bands are no better.

Why does this Charles Michel (and others) get access to Sony cameras before anyone else? He’s terrible. It never ceases to amaze me – after Reverie helped the 5d2 explode onto the scene 4 years ago – that every company wouldn’t pull out all the stops to introduce a new camera. Sony has the worst product demonstrators on the planet.

Sony could easily find 10 talented shooters on Vimeo, give each of them $10,000 and tell them to shoot something amazing – then we’d have some decent sample footage. Instead they allow people to put out junk that doesn’t show anything close to what the camera is capable of producing. They could even pony up to Hulbert, Lafloret or Bloom to get something decent that showcases the A99′s performance. Instead we get this bunk. Arrgghhh…..

the performances of the SEL 10-18mm lens looks pretty bad … I hope it s because of the jpeg settings

Just saw in the specs of the NEX6 and the NEX5R have ISO in video up to 3200 in auto-mode and 6400 in manual mode. Any news if this will be also the case on my A77 with a future firmware update?

No, the specs of A99 are not much higher. 1/8000 shutter and articulated screen. Is it worth extra $700 and lower battery life and fewer available lenses? For new customers, A99 and 5D III will be much harder to sell now.
Let’s race to the bottom begin!

Totally agree. Can wait to see the samples of the non-pre-production model. Form what I see ISO 3200 is top and at 6400 still good.

The Nex-6 images at high ISO look really good !

The A99 at ISO6400 squeezes out more detail than the Nex-6.

corner performance of 10-18mm not good….as usual nex lens..;)

As said in a comment before .. this clip has so many flaws that they should´ve better not shown it. If I bring out a new camera and the videographer using it burns out highlights in every second shot I would hide that material – because it does not add any value.

Besides the fact that this is only average filmmaking the DoF is nice, the purple color issues on hard contrasts is awful, the moiré effects on the radiator grill (that appear in almost every shot) look like it was shot with the good old 5D MK II. I expected at least GH2 quality in terms of sharpness and artifact-absence. Great sensor, great DoF – but if you can´t intercut the footage with GH2, Alexa or EPIC it can´t be used in the PRO market.

You might say “people intercut 5D MK II footage with highend cameras since years”. That´s true – but now we have a choice in the lowered price prosumer market – like FS 100/700, the hacked GH2 etc. – and I expected more in terms of video quality from that camera.
