New EOS to NEX adapter with aperture ring!
One of our readers (Mistral) just found that new adapter on eBay: “Just to let you know that Kipon, the Chinese manufacturer of adapters, just launched a Canon EF –> Sony E adapter with built-in aperture (since there is no mechanical coupling in the EF mount, you can only use the EF lenses wide open with conventional adapters). Their website is http://www.dl-kipon.com but it is down more than often.
The adapter for sale on eBay:

3 years ago |Not a big deal with this adapter. But it would be really cool if aperture in EF lenses could be controlled from NEX itself. After all it’s just a matter of proper electronic conversion. For instance there were modification of mount that allowed use of Zeiss lenses made for Contax N system on Canon EF cameras – that included AF and aperture control form body! And that was a real achievement. Here’s some info:

Now if someone would make such a fully functional adapter for NEX

It just vignetted the image. Had no affect on actual aperture, DOF, etc.
I really hope no one buys that thing

The aperture needs to be at a specific place within the lens in order to adjust the size of the entrance pupil (which controls DoF) without altering the image circle that is covered by the lens. Putting an aperture behind the rear element wouldn’t anything to the DoF…it would just decrease the size of the image circle covered by the lens. Which is absolutely useless, unless you like severe vignetting.

This is beyond great if it works – for me certainly, as I own both Canon EOS & Sony NEX equipment. Controlling aperture would be excellent already, and controlling AF… what’s not to like?
