New NEX-7 tests at Luminous Landscape (and 12mm lens tets at 3Dkraft)
La Parroquia from The Luminous Landscape on Vimeo.
There is a new NEX-7 versus A900 comparison at Luminous Landscape (Click here). As usual with LL this is a very honest and interesting review (Bravo!). I am not surprised to see the NEX-7 image quality to be on par with the A900. And it also makes me even increase the expectations on the image quality of the upcoming new A99 with 24 Megapixel full frame sensor. P.S.: Here are the links to the still amazing A900 camera: Amazon, B&H, Adorama, J&R, eBay.
Meanwhile 3Dkraft (Click here) made a sort of crazy test. He attached the 12mm f/1.6 Hypeprime m43 lens (Here on eBay) on the NEX-7 via m43 to E-mount adapter: “As expected, the image circle of this m4/3 lens does not cover the whole APS-C sensor format. But the shadowing effect is less than expected as you can see in the following example taken at F2.0”
NEX-7 availability status:
I am in contact with stores in Europe and USA. They all told me that the new NEX-7 body only stocks will arrive in February. The kit version is due for March. So here is the full link list:

2 years ago |woww the lens is really wide
WilliamLeong
2 years ago |Actually, how did you judge that the lenses were ‘really wide’? By the images or by the focal lengths that is stated? Coz I don’t see any image in the article that would suggest that it looks as wide as your expression shows ;P

2 years ago |Sony 16mm + VCL-ECU1?? You can not be serious!
It is criminal that Sony even made them and are selling it for real cash, particularly the wide converter!

2 years ago |I do not have the ECU1, but I do have the ECF1, and I find it really handy. It’s a fun piece of glass which I do not have to pay an arm for. Image quality is very decent as well.
Here are some pics if you’re interested.

2 years ago |Yes I am serious its a fairly decent combination.
Its been stated that it improves the peformance of the weak 16mm.
Its one of the best WA available and us it on my m4/3 also with very good corner sharpness.
Perfect? no but good enough and better than using this slrmagic with adapter.
And im not one for using WAs

Yeahhh
2 years ago |I would appreciate to see more regular DSLR/SLT-lens and -accessories news here. I know you all love the NEX but not everyone is that much interest.

2 years ago |He puts all the news up here. There is just more nex news right now because Sony is focusing more on that line. It’s called alpha rumors and nex is alpha. It’s not like he’s neglecting the bigger cameras. What is with you people?

2 years ago |However, it would be nice if Admin pressured his sources to find out about any SLT developments such as firmware updates and the often asked for tethering etc. How about a roadmap for A-mount for a start?
Im with Stupid ^
2 years ago |are you serious??? this is not a site that Admin does for a living… he doesnt work for Sony… he gets what he can and he puts it up! you are actually dumb! Pressure his sources… for WHAT REASON??? to save you from leaving the site to go to another?? where else you getting info from?? go play somewhere!

2 years ago |The rule is simple: I post what I find. Did you find any A77 news today? Any review? Yesterday I posted the A55 discontinued news. Really, don’t blame on me. Ask reviewers to make more reviews, ask Sony to release new SLT stuff.

2 years ago |Ok, here’s me asking Sony for A-mount news.. what lenses to expected, and when will the a99 be around?

2 years ago |From the LL-test, a wise lesson for those ‘desperately needing’ an OVF: Checking focus on the NEX-7 is simply far more effective than on the A900.

2 years ago |I am a proud A55 owner and don’t have any NEX camers, but the fact remains that NEX cameras are the ones that have everybody’s attention, They are the exciting ones not the SLTs even so Andrea has published about both Alphas. It is not his fault that SLTs don’t have the attraction and attention that NEX does and get.

2 years ago |Unfortunately the video quality of nex7 is too low, there is no detail, probably it is just a matter of increasing detail settings into menu, but every video in web have same problems. I don’t like nex7 for filming, but for still pictures it is very good and portable.

2 years ago |Sony’s focus is currently NEX and not SLR, DSLR or even SLT
We can all see this, and we see over and over again, in various tests and reviews, ounce for ounce the performance of the NEX architecture seemingly kicks the butt of the SLT and equals Sony’s best DSLR the a900 in imaging. So, it’s understandable why Sony is putting resources behind this new platform.
So, my question is simple; what’s going wrong with the SLT architecture that a cheaper camera with fewer features, questionable lenses, produces a sharper image than a costlier, much bigger and heaver a77 that has the same sensor?
I’m I wrong with this understanding of reviews comparing the two cameras?
I understand the interest with the NEX and more directly in by bones and back every time I leave my workspace carrying two a850’s one with a 24-70 and the other with a 70-200 and see others with much smaller and lighter and cheaper NEX cameras knowing that the imaging possibilities short of pixel peeking are very close to being equal.
I’m see NEX cameras all over the place in San Francisco, from both tourists and residents.

2 years ago |No kidding, why on earth is this! We can only hope they have figured something out as of recent, explaining the delay in the ff alpha release. They certailnly cannot have a ff at 3300. with images only AS GOOD as a nex7 at 1300 or whatever it is.

2 years ago |I own a A850 and a Nex5N. I would say the IQ of Nex can be very close to A850, but not better. Also to get the IQ as good as A850, you need a lot of works – a sharp lens, lens adapter, manual focus…etc.
Also I can use A850 in very low light with the the camera’s IS and my fast 1.4 lenses. Most of the time I’m more satisfied with A850 in low light shooting. In good light, unless I use my Contax lenses, it’s no way the IQ of Nex can be better than A850. I shoot handheld, not with tripod.
It doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy using Nex, I do. But they are different cameras, and I use them differently as such. I really don’t see the point of comparing the IQ of them. They achieve the IQ you want in different ways.

2 years ago |He just want to compare the IQ, if the new NEX is good enough. His benchmark is an A900. I think he thinks that the NEX7 is good enough.
