New round of Sony A35 reviews…
Dpreview (Click here) tested the Sony A35: “Like the previous SLT models the A35 is an excellent all-round performer. It gets all the basic stuff right most of the time, and the refined ergonomics make it fun to work with, for both beginners and advanced photographers.”
Also Cnet Uk (Click here) tested the camera: “The A35′s results speak for themselves. Colours are true and focus is sharp, while the carefully positioned controls make it easy to achieve some great results in very short order. If you don’t already have a stock of lenses for a rival manufacturer, take a serious look at the A35 when you’re next consider an upgrade. When bought with the kit lens, it is extraordinary value for money.”
There is a third review at DigitalCameraSchool (Click here): “A nice, well-priced camera but the eye level viewfinder lets it down.”
And there is a preview at SonyAlphaLab (Click here).

Andrea; perhaps you can make a lens survey like you did for the next FF cams? I thought the FF survey that you designed was a hit.
Sony seemed to listen to that. Perhaps then they would listen to us about lens and get on the stick. For example, the survey could be titled “What Would You Like Sony’s Next A-Mount Lens to Be ?” then have things such as 24mm tilt-shift lens, 50mm F/1.2, new 35mm F/1.4, et cetera.

18 models in 5 years ! Do you realize how many lenses could have been improved instead of plowing ungodly amounts of yen into new camera bodies with feature sets differing only by a button or a shooting speed ? It cost crazy amounts of money to bring each camera to market. What a waste. Sony already has an entry level SLT- the A33. The A35 is the same price as a A33, see here:

So, are you going to rush out the door and buy the A35 now that it has 2 megapixels more than the A33 ? The older A33 has a fully articulating screen that the A35 does not, otherwise… it’s the same camera.

The existing 24 is already really good, and the 1.4 versions from Nikon and Canon are pretty problematic and not that great until f2 anyway.
A new 35 would be good too.. the current one has too many problems with focusing and sharpness

Same way I like the color rendition of the NEXc3 and NEX5N.

8 months ago |I waited and got the A35, grudgingly giving up the articulating screen for more video time, better battery life, more efficient processor. It is an awesome camera. I have the 35mm f1.8 and use that as my primary lens. The kit lens is absolutely fine for what it is.
No one ever said that the A35 was going to be a game changer. It is merely a replacement with a few enhancements for A33. Is the now discontinued A55 worth the price difference? Perhaps. It’s soon gone. The A65 is quite a bit more money. Sony’s error is having too many models available at the same time. Having the A35 as an entry level SLT is brilliant. It competes in the same price range as many of the entry level SLRs at sale price. But the A35 is smaller, lighter, faster and arguably better in almost every way.
