New Sigma E-mount lenses to come soon?

The discounted Sigma lenses at BHphoto.
Plenty of you likely noticed the recent worldwide Sigma deals on the E-mount lenses. Like the super double kit at BHphoto (Click here), and the 99 Euro only price at Technikdirekt or on eBay (via Slidoo). Ale from MirrorlessRumors may have found the reason why this is happening. According to his sources Sigma will soon announce a new “ART” high quality version of these lenses. The new Sigma ART lenses have the same high quality standard of the recently announced 35mm f/1.4 lens for Sony (here at Amazon) Two very positive reviews of the lens are available at SLRgear (Click here) and Photographyblog (Click here). The lenses will be more expensive than the current 19 and 30mm E-mount lenses.
What I don’t know yet is if the new lenses will replace the current lenses or just be a higher priced alternative. I like the current Sigma lenses, they are good value for that price and I hope they will remain there in future.

4 months ago |I like them too, have them both. The 30mm is clearly the better of the two, but the 19mm pairs up well for me with the Sony 50mm, making a very compact NEX-6 mini outfit. It’s not an exaggeration to say the availability of these Sigma lenses made the NEX a viable option for me personally.

4 months ago |The existing little Sigmas are superb, despite their price and so anything new would be most welcome.
I’m really hoping for some tele-lenses and maybe a macro. Looking at the Latest Sigma DP3 compact I’d hazard a guess that a 50/2.8 macro may be on it’s way …?
andrew
4 months ago |Hmm, oss and f1.4 on the 30mm would probably do it for me. Interested to see what else they’ve got lined up – lack of decent macro and fast zoom options are the biggest thing putting me off Nex these days…

4 months ago |ART/SPORTS, F1.4 or faster, OSS, hybrid AF are baseline. otherwise we already have alternative options. Pancake or not isn’t a issue, if IQ is the selling point as ART lens does.

4 months ago |Yes, we really need some f1.4 lens for the NEX.
They are not on Sony or Zeiss’ roadmap so our only hope is Sigma…….
I am feeling jealous seeing all those f1.4 lens for Fuji X series!

4 months ago |sony really stupid not make fast lens F/1.4 for nex
Juan
4 months ago |I think that a useful lens would be a shorter and affordable replacement of the Sony Zeiss 24mm 1.8.

4 months ago |The revised version of the SLRMagic 23mm f1.7 is due to ship February.
It will be interesting to see how well it reviews as it could be a viable cheaper option compared to the Zeiss
Juan
4 months ago |Yes, it’s an interesting option but the SLR Magic is manual focus.
Nowadays I’m using a Zuiko 24mm 2.8 manual focus on the NEX-7, I feel very confortable with It but sometimes I miss AF.

4 months ago |I think that Sigma will release E-mount version of 50 mm f/2.8 lens from their camera DP3.

4 months ago |I wish we had the B&H deal here in the UK, would be all i need with a nex6.
Vivek
4 months ago |The Admin posted a deal from NL, earlier. 85Euros each! I think that is a better than the US one.
HajLender
4 months ago |Where can I find that deal? tahnk you for the help
Vivek
4 months ago |OK, not this Admin but the one from 4/3rds and the price is 95 Euros (not 85, sorry). Link is here: http://www.43rumors.com/eu-deals-reloaded-olympus-75mm-17mm-and-sigma/

4 months ago |I’m hoping Sigma brings their Sport series to E-mount.
120-300mm F2.8 DG OS HSM
Yes it would look ridiculous, and no it wouldn’t be pocketable, but sometimes you need an effective 450mm at F2.8. Combined with the hybrid AF, this would be perfect for urban safaris: weddings, concerts, field sports, checking out neighbouring condos, portraits of people with giant noses…
Mick
4 months ago |I seriously doubt they will. Notice that they aren’t releasing the second generation 120-300 OS HSM in alpha mount. IMHO, if you want that lens (like I do) buy a Nikon D600. I would speculate that Sony wants their customers to buy their 300mm SSM lens for 6 grand and (if they want image stabilization) buy an A99. Sigma does not even offer their 300mm in HSM for Sony (they offer HSM in other mounts).

4 months ago |Pancake E20/2.8 (19/16 with F2.0/1.8/1.4, are better)
Sigma ART 35/1.4 (28/30/32/40/50 with F1.2/1.0 are better)
Sigma SPORTS 120-300mm F2.8 (samyang with less price also a good choice)
These are all I need for NEX6 system.

4 months ago |They must make a 24mm prime. Preferably 24/2 mm.
The 30mm is bit too narrow and the 19mm bit too wide. The zeiss is amazing, but very expensive.
awmenard
4 months ago |I would love for Sigma to release a 35f1.4 between $400 and $500.
Dean
4 months ago |same here, ART 35/1.4 with hybrid AF and OSS E-mount will be very realistic. Prime lens anywhere from 18~80 with max F1.2~2 are realistic for sigma to transform to E-mount. Also sports lens are expected.

4 months ago |After I got the Sigmas I totally lost interest in Sony’s overpriced lens lineup.
Now I’m looking forward to the new Sigma lenses.
As Alan stated above, I would have given up the NEX system if it weren’t for the Sigmas. Unfortunately we can’t all afford Zeiss glass.
obican
4 months ago |If that happens and we get a 24/1.8, a 85/1.8 and/or a 16/2 lens with the quality of their current lenses, that’s going to be the best thing to happen to E-Mount.
Linh
4 months ago |I agree. We need fast 3rd-party lenses.
FMJ
4 months ago |^ i am the 3rd. if it wasn’t the 19mm & 30mm, i have lost interested in Sigma.
So far, i hardly use my 50mm Sony OSS lens, focus is a lot slower than both Sigma, and i love the colour from Sigma (personal thing)
and as for my kit lens, i don’t know where it is now…..LOL
my hope would be a sigma 23 or 24mm F2, and a 56mm F1.8 (85mm equivalent) just like what Fuji roadmap shown.
obican
4 months ago |Ah yes, something like a 58mm f/1.2 would be perfect.
andrew
4 months ago |Good to see they’re faithfully following the a-mount business model (let sigma and tamron fill the gaps in the lineup)…
Jason
4 months ago |I sure hope the new “art” versions of these lenses will remain just as compact. OSS would be a big improveent too!
Joel Richards
4 months ago |I’m guessing this means that PDAF support for the existing 30mm & 19mm isn’t going to happen…
Dean
4 months ago |absolutely!!! to sigma and sony, waste time on updating old lens doesn’t make sense. sell new lens make $$$, not update old, not to mention these old lens are cheap one after all.
Bruce Bachand
4 months ago |This initial Sigma ART lens has received excellent buzz. This is exceedingly fine news for the NEX series.
Stephen
4 months ago |I don’t see how the ART lenses could replace the existing ones, since they will have to be in a very different price range and almost certainly much larger as seen in that Amazon link to the new 35mm 1.4.
DemonDuck
4 months ago |The Rokinon fisheye you show is the 2.8f, the Rokinon on your link is the 3.5f fisheye. Completely different lens.
