New Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM review by Kurtmunger.com!

Kurt Munger posted a new interesting Sony 85mm F/2.8 SAM review. After long detailed testing he says: “Sony comes up with another winner in their high performance, low cost easy choice lens series“.
That’s a perfect lens if you want to carry a light lens. If you need a faster lens you have to get the much more expensive Sony/Zeiss 85mm f/1.4.
We also found a comaprison between the Sony 85mm and the Tamron 90mm lens at Sonyuserforum.de.

Which would imply why it’s so good. And the price can be low, due to acrylic lens elements being used instead of glass.

2 years ago |No, the image quality is as we see not affected.
However, the build quality suffers.
I have held this lens in my hands and I can confirm that you can deform it simply by squishing it. It does return to it’s normal state once released, but still, I find this rather disturbing, especially knowing that lens elements need to be aligned extremely well.
But for this price it’s unbeatable I guess.
I also wonder how well the acrylic will fare in the long term.
I think that first such lenses are now about 10 years old.
(Most of the 18-55 kits from Canikon, the old minolta 28-105 and it’s aps-c’ed clone 18-70).
My Canon 18-55 EF-S which I got with my 350D still works as new

I would like to see proof of that. Pretty sure those are glass elements.
