New Sony exotic lens reviews (Rokinon 85mm, Industar 28mm)

Oliviatech (Click here) compèared the Sigma and Samyang/Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 lenses. They are both cheap but very good alternatives of the Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 lens. If you don’t care about manual focusing only than get the Samyang lens! You can find it with different names:
Samyang 85mm f/1.4 auctions on eBay (Click here).
Rokinon 85mm f/1.4 auctions on eBay (Click here) and at Amazon (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).
And those are the links to the Sigma and Zeiss lenses:
Sigma 85mm f/1.4 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
Zeiss 85mm f/1.4 at Amazon, Adorama, B&H, J&R, eBay.
Onemorelens (Click here) tested the Industar 69 – 28mm f/2.8 on a Sony NEX camera: “This thing is so small, it fits in the inner zipper pockets of my camera bag, usually reserved for cords & memory cards. So is it the perfect compact, manual focus lens for the NEX? Probably not, but it’s definitely fun to use!” You can find that lens on eBay (Click here).

10 months ago |That Industar looks like one sexy piece of glass on that NEX-3.

10 months ago |Rokinon has good products if you compare with price.
Sigma 85 f1.4 is X3.6 expensive

10 months ago |Indeed. Sigmas are as expensive as camera maker’s lens.

10 months ago |The Samyang 85mm f/1.4 lens is neither new or exotic. I have it and with my eyesight it is basically useless wide open since I can’t get it to focus accurately beyond mfd.

10 months ago |Come on, there’s not much use in such fast lenses with autofocus anyway. I remember how difficult it was in the 80′s focussing portraits on the eyes with a Canon FD 85mm 1:1.2L – you can’t do something like that with autofocus anyway. But now attached to a NEX-5 with Focus Peaking all of a sudden this is damn easy. And as Olivia mentioned, filmmakers prefer manual lenses anyway, since pumping autofocus is always crap.
The Samyang/Rokinon 85mm is at least much cheaper option than the SIGMA, but before deciding I would recommend some more detailed reviews than Olivia’s:

10 months ago |So the industar will work with the nex-5? E-mount?
Will the conversion lens from sony be able to attach to it?
I might purchase the alpha mount sometime later.

10 months ago |…but it’s usage does not sound very exciting and the pictures he took received some post production as he mentioned.
I’ve decided to stay away from the NEX lens hunt. Except a super wide angle I’ve got everything I need with my old Canon FD lensed. For usual day and night use SONY’s standard zoom isn’t that bad, especially when using a NEX for photography and film together. So I’ve just ordered the pancake, since I can’t get an affordable old Canon FD 14mm 1:1.4L. I’m sick of pictures in the net made with cheap CCTV lenses attached to a NEX or whatever. If somebody is into constructing a special atmosphere those “exotic” lenses might be fine for him, but that’s not my style of photography…

6 months ago |Canon FD 14mm 1.4L? Did never exist. You probably mean the FD 24mm 1.4L.

3 months ago |Sorry, mixed that up, but I meant the Canon FD 14mm 1:2.8L, since I’m totally adoring Super Wide Angles – probably also the brand new Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 15mm f/2.8…

10 months ago |Alfonso – My Industar 69 that I reviewed is a blast to use. Despite it’s flaws (and it appears that some of those flaws may be limited to my sample), it’s still a great, compact lens. However, If you’re into pixel peeping, this lens will disappoint. But you can still use it to capture some great photographs. When I want to see a spec of dust on an eyelash, I use a different lens

10 months ago |I’m not sure where the reviewer heard that the Sigma has a 12″ minimum focus distance, but that’s totally wrong. That would practically useless on an 85mm f/1.4 lens. The Sigma focuses to 85cm, and the Rokinon to 100cm.
The Rokinon’s optics can compete with all of the 85mm f/1.4 lenses, no doubt about it.
