Competition news: Canon will launch five RF lenses on Feb 14. Including a new 85mm f/1.2

Share

On February 14 Canon will launch five new RF lenses:

RF15-35mm F2.8L IS USM
RF24-70mm F2.8L IS USM
RF70-200mm F2.8L IS USM
RF24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM
RF85mm F1.2L USM

Canon is rapidly trying to catch up with the Sony FE lens lineup. All five lenses are spot on and highly desirable. And I do think Sony has to launch a f/1.2 autofocus lens lineup too. Just recently Sony stated that while f/1.0 or faster lenses would not make sense they are considering making f/1.2 af lenses.

Sony is rumored ot have an E-mount lens announcement before the start of the WPPI and CP+ shows in late February!

Here are the images of the other four lenses:

Sony A6400 review by Max Yuryev, Matt Granger and Cinema5D

Share

On top you can watch Max Yuryev take on the new Sony A6400. Below the new Matt Granger test:

Cinem5D also tested the camera and concluded:

Manufacturers often test new features in their professional lines first and then let them crawl down into their consumer/prosumer line – and it seems like this is what they did again on the A9, which is considered to have one of the fastest autofocus systems in the industry. (We haven’t tested Sony’s top-of-the-line A9 mirrorless camera simply because it’s not focused on video shooting at all – it lacks all Slog options.) So while the a6400 could have been that ordinary camera which resembles the a6300 and a6500, that autofocus killer feature alone is worth the extra look, especially as this is a glimpse to the future of all other cameras too!

And here we have a new Q&A from Gary Fong:

Sony A6400 preorders:
USA at BHphoto, Adorama, FocusCamera, Buydig, Amazon.
Europe at Calumet Germany, ParkCameras UK, Jessops.
Asia at Sony Australia and Sony Japan.

Sony US launched new big camera and lens savings (Click here to see the full list at BH). For unknown reasons the A7III price drop advertised by US stores did not run. I guess there was some mis communication between Sony and the US stores. This was just one of the screenshots I got from US stores showing the A7III discount
