(SR5) Sony has also developed a new 72MP Full Frame Global Shutter for industrial use

Share

Our highly reliable Sony sensor informant told us this:

Just got word of a new 72MP FF global shutter sensor from Sony, 3.45um pixel architecture (FF version of IMX342). Of course it’s more geared towards industrial use with mediocre image quality. It could be a result of competition from Canon and ON Semi that they all taped out FF GS sensors.

As measured by Lucid Vision Labs it seems like Global Shutters are still not a match for current Sony rolling shutter sensors.

Meyer Optik Görlitz acquired by another German company. But you still will not get your $$$ back.

Share

Mirrorlessrumors reports about the acquisition of the Meyer Optik Görlitz brand by German company OPC Optic. OPC said that they will make new lenses under the Meyer Optik Görlitz brand name. But they also said this:

Unfortunately, it is not possible to take over the net SE contaminated sites

The takeover by OPC Optics includes all brand rights to Meyer Optik Görlitz and the associated products. Open claims from customers and suppliers towards net SE remain with net SE. Thus, vendors would have to contact the administrator of the net SE regarding these matters. OPC Optics, as a supplier of high-precision aspheres, is itself one of the suppliers of the net SE who still have outstanding demands on them.

As part of the reorientation of the brand, OPC Optics is examining whether discounts on the acquisition of an available lens can be realized for customers of net SE who have paid for and have not received a lens. Upon request, customers would then receive an individual offer. When or if such a model can be offered, is currently not fixed.

Shit :(

Federico:Just to inform and hope in Sony firmware update.
Every Sony 24 f1.4 GM have some problem when you close over f4, starting to wooble in AFC, this happen very very little (not a problem) on sony A9, while on A7r3 (maybe because phase points are little for diffraction) cause a real problem in use.
Tried on 4 lenses and 3 cameras.
This is an example (not my video, is a friend of mine but I can make other)..

Be Alpha CES invitation says there will be “some surprises”

Share

Like I told you before the CES show isn’t usually used by Sony to announce new E-mount products. That said Be Alpha is holding a special Sony event and their invitation says:

There will be photo ops, food, lots of fun, and some surprises. If you’re in the Las Vegas area, you won’t want to miss this one!

Let’s hope the A7000 is one of the surprises :)

All we know with 99% reliability is that Sony will announce new 8k products (camcorder, TV and so on). The one source that told us the A7000 might be announced before Christmas was obviously wrong. My guess is that Sony had “only” an internal presentation of the A7000 before it goes official.
