PCworld: Sony NEX is the sixth “Best Tech Products 2010″
PCworld (Click here) rated the Sony NEX-5 as 6th on the list of the best tech product in 2010! And yes it’s even better than the Canon 7D or iPhone 4

2 years ago |@acolyte – re: losing to Samsung Tab – That is because the editors of PCworld use a … um …. ahem … a “finely tuned algorithm”
to develop their list.
My initial estimate to describe their “finely tuned algorithm” to determine the PCworld rank is the following equation: Rank = (MDE * WSH) / Q!CS!.
The three factors are described below.
- – - – -
Rank in the best product list = (MDE * WSH) / Q!CS!.
MDE – Money Drives Everything.
The MDE factor represents the advertising revenue represented by the parent companies of the products in the list.
WSH – WiSH we had their money.
The WSH factor represents the potential advertising revenue from companies that don’t advertise yet, but that PCworld’s advertising salesmen wish they had.
Q!CS! – Quick! Call Someone! –
The Q!CS! factor is a complex one. It represents the factor that quantifies the moment when the editors at PCworld say “Darn! No one is going to believe us if we don’t list some genuinely cool products! Quick, call Engadget! Call Gizmodo! Call Wired! Just call someone! Find out what’s cool! We have no idea!”
- – - -
I’m sure other SAR readers could help to refine this algorithm to better reflect how the editors come up with their decisions. (This is the softball pitch that I gently throw to the humorists in the crowd.) Any takers?

What I wanna know is when are the new E-Mount primes coming out?
AVESTA
2 years ago |you have a problem with Zeiss primes???
you can use lenses other than e-mount you know

2 years ago |i hope the primes are so late because they want to make them really really good.
right now the nex seems pretty useless to me with only kit lenses.. sure some people might like the 16mm pancake but the majority would prefer good primes in the 24-35mm and 50-90mm range.
2011 is going to be pretty interesting for mirrorless.. both samsung and sony have their road maps out.. i am pretty excited who brings out the better lens package.
