Looking at front size difference can be made negligable

3 years ago |Agreed. From the mock up showed up earlier this year I’m sure A33/A55 would be pretty thick. This is where NEX wins.

3 years ago |Can someone make size comparison with D5000? Or at least tell me – will a55 be smaller than D5000 (and if it is, how much smaller)

3 years ago |Stop calling it “Pelix.” The word “pelix” is *Canon’s name* for pellicle cameras that they build. It’s like calling every Quick AF liveview (if someone else builds such cameras), a “Sony.”

3 years ago |Wow, A3x/5x is very small indeed. I thought Sony can still pursue Ax series with rangefinder style (ticker version of NEX) but with native a mount. Now maybe just make sure that Nex a-mount adapter can AF properly is enough.

3 years ago |when Nex came out, it shook the world of photography… question were send to nikon are they going to mirrorless road? they dont denial it… but making all the lenses take a lot manufacturing power like sony has… can you? or u going to just steal the nex sensor too anyway… and question to canon if they going to jump to mirrorless wagon? they denial it, and said, they will come out with more compact body, but wont be mirrorless, they said photographers deserve a smaller body… well, welcome A33 and A55!

So, yes, A33 will be smaller than D3100. Smaller by quite a bit.

3 years ago |It’s great that they’ve reduced DSLR size, but lenses are a huge problem for the A33. Unlike Pentax, Sony doesn’t have a set of pancake primes to choose from. I’m intrigued by the A33 and A55, but unless they blow me away in person I’ll keep on waiting for a semi-pro EVIL.

3 years ago |there are small cheap a-mount lenses, 30mm macro, 35mm F1.8, 50mm F1.8. And a small 85mm F2.8. That will satisfy most people’s needs.

3 years ago |As has already been mentioned, thickness is still going to be much greater in the A55 compared to mirrorless cams.
