Photozone tested the E-mount 16mm f/2.8 and 18-55mm lenses

The lens review website Photozone tested the new E-mount 16mm and 18-55mm lenses. According to their tests the 16mm lens “technically it isn’t really an impressive lens“. They liked the 18-55mm which “is a very decent kit zoom lens“.

2 years ago |lol the 16mm review is a joke
It’s pretty much distortion free to them and the resolution is very high at the center but they had to give it 1.5/5 Score because the corners “AT A WIDE ANGLE LENS” is not very sharp, joke review lol
He admit stepping down the aperture make the corners sharper but he want it to be sharp at f2.8
This guy thinks he is reviewing a 1000$ huge prime instead of super tiny cheap lens

2 years ago |I think you would expect a prime to be better, so fully deserved, except for the f2.8 I’m sure the 16mm end on the 16-105 A lens i superior to it.

2 years ago |I think its a fair assessment of the lens, but we all have to remember who the camera system is targeted at, which the 16mm pancake is a good reflection of. High central sharpness, bright aperture and flashy looks. It’s also relatively cheap so for the consumer P&S shoot market/mobile phone shooter, its probably a massive step up.
The 16-80za is superior to the pancake easily, but that also costs more then what the NEX system retails for.
