Rumors from others: Samsung launches the NEX competitor

The Samsung NX100 is the new NEX competitor. To bad for them they used the same Samsung NX10 sensor for the NX100 sensor. That sensor cannot compete against the NEX sensor. The only real innovation is the design. I like it.

2 years ago |I like the hotshoe, maybe one day we will have a hotshoe attachment for the sony nex either from sony or flashzebra.
other than the hotshoe nothing appeals to me but nothing from samsung has ever appealed to me.

2 years ago |If NEX-7 will be something like this would be awesome … dual dials!!

2 years ago |Could be hard to grip if using larger lenses. If the black part of the body is rubbery that might help though.

2 years ago |Agree with Mike, but hotshoe still sucks itself. Hope that nex models will come with a Sony hotshoe or an adapter for that!
Dear samsung, get a life and stop coping others!
Eric
2 years ago |Did you really just tell one of the largest electronics companies in the world to “get a life” like they are teenage girl? Good grief, fanboys are poison. Who cares who makes what. Just keep the cameras coming. The more options the better. When will people learn competition is a good thing?
As far as this camera, I have to say I like the looks of it more than either the NEX 3 or NEX 5 simply due to the fact that it has a real hot shoe, external buttons for WB, ISO, and an actual scroll wheel for adjust aperture.
So whats the word on the NEX7? I haven’t heard anything about it in a long time.

2 years ago |Hahaha same thoughts as you. Either Canikon or Sony fanboys, all I care is about competition. I don’t like monopoly.
And just waiting for Photokina for any word, even a bit, on NEX7
Else I’m going to buy NEX5 before the BH deal ended
Panfruit
2 years ago |It actually looks pretty nice.
And won’t you be able to use Samsungs 30mm f/2 on it? Very nice indeed! Hopefully NEX will get some primes some day. tsktsk.

2 years ago |hotshoe? i never bother with hotshoe, i rather samsung have better iso (which they dont)… with a big flash, its so un-ergonomical to hold it… whats the point then? i wish nex releases a firmware for it to trigger alpha flash…
Eric
2 years ago |I’ll take it you don’t use RF triggers to trigger multiple strobes. Either a Radio Popper trigger or a cheap Cactus V4 trigger would fit just fine on this camera. The NX hot shoe also offers another benefit not available on the NEX 3/5, you can mount an EVF in it for times when you’d rather use a view finder (although it supposedly a lo res EVF, which is a bummer). The NEX 3/5 certainly wil have a better sensor, but having the ability quickly to access WB, ISO, and make aperture adjustments without digging through menus is far more important to me than ISO3200.
The NX100 won’t be close to being my ideal camera (I’m still hoping the NEX 7 will be that), but I would choose the NX100 over the NEX 3/5 for the reasons I gave above.

2 years ago |LOL, someone said that ‘ fanboys are poison’ and now he gets hurt himself everything against ‘world largest electronic company’
Samsung need to make their own dslr and evils more stable rather than making bodies.
Sony already make their Alpha and Cybershot in their own way ( though all are not good). Houbara talking about hotshoe, but you didnot see that me too want something like that.there are some many awaradward on their designs since Their main tagets was compact body with better performance.
Don’t get that hurt my friend.

2 years ago |Hey Narada, it just makes it more fun.
Either way, you could say the same about Sony. They should put in more features instead of downgrading and making more bodies.
Meh, either way, money is all that matters. Sales will tell.
As for me? I just want a NEX7 and A77/A7xx in my hands

2 years ago |Another most uncreative idea from Samsung. From their galaxy phones to tablets, they all copied from Apple. Now, they are following Sony’s NEX design. What are they gonna copy next?

2 years ago |I like the Galaxy S much more than iPhone
It looks like an enlarged Omnia to me
(I have both Omnia and Galaxy S)
Panfruit
2 years ago |Why the silly fanboyism? It looks like a cool little camera, with a level of control that should should definitely emulate (with their incessant dumbing down does that even seem possible?)
mugen
2 years ago |For me looks very ugly
Edgars
2 years ago |I hope it stimulates Sony to make next generation of NEX with improved controls. Sony easily could attract even more users and kill competition with 2-3 Zeiss AF E-mount lenses.

2 years ago |“Competitor”?
This funny toy with rudimentary grip, myopic evf and “frozen into” display?
Now Samsung in photobusiness looks like japanese car-makers from 60-70s.

2 years ago |This is what the NX10 should have been.

2 years ago |Looks ok and obviously we need a full test before forming a final opinion but off the bat it doesnt really look that compelling.
Good bits:
a couple more buttons than the NEX.
Bad bits:
kit lens range wrong
small fixed rear screen completely misses the point
kn
2 years ago |Ok sony, give me more button (touch screen button also can) and a hot shoe for nex-7. That all…
Narada Thomas
2 years ago |Acotyle, great! Bit Hmbetter be careful if samsung won’t give further more andorid updates or root keys. Like Sony x10.
Well, no use of talking about SAMs! World largest does not mean that the best. Yeah agree that Sony should reaee more flashes, lighting tools and etc even minolta had many, I heard.

2 years ago |I like it a lot.

2 years ago |Nex-7 should learn something from this, add some dails, quick access buttons for pro users or new users end up memorising the shooting tips
Eric
2 years ago |They really should change that shooting tips button on the NEX5 into a customizable FN button. Who needs a guide button after the first few months?
mike
2 years ago |fyi that button isn’t always a tip button, if you use flexible spot focusing then that button is used to activate that feature, not as simple as changing it from a tip guide button when it is a soft button and used for other things.
Kyle
2 years ago |I really like the iFn option to use the focus ring like an aperture ring. I think it’s excellent on the Canon S90 and I think it would be a brilliant solution for the small bodied NEX cameras.
