RX1 hands-on video by Steve Huff.
Steve Huff just got his brand new Sony RX1 and the video on top shows all his excitement
The camera shipment in Asia just started. And if you want to save some money avoid to buy the expensive original Sony RX1 hood ($179 at Adorama). A $6 cheap chinese metal hood will do it (there is one here on eBay).
The RX1 can be pre ordered at Amazon, Adorama, BHphoto, Wex UK ,Wex Germany, Sonystore DE-UK-FR-IT-ES-NL-SE-FI-CH and more links at Alphacameradeals.

7 months ago |Sony… YOU SCREWED UP! Your a99 shows embarrassing noise at HIGH ISO compared to RX1. You should eliminate SLT & concentrate on mirrorless cdaf/pdaf 100%!
Since you’re struggling to produce lenses on your own camera line, have your NEW partner Olympus provide the lenses while you barter your excellent sensors to them!
Simple really. EVERYBODY WINS.

7 months ago |I think the reason why RX1 has better ISO results than a99 is because the lens was made to match the sensor. If you look at where the lens is internally positioned it is smack bang in front of the sensor. There could be other factors, but this is just my thinking. The a99 is not bad too in ISO, and still excellent in my opinion. Again these are two totally different camera builds with same sensor.

7 months ago |The lens has no influence on ISO noise. If I have to go by the posts here, I’ll say Sony have no following among photographers, only misinformed marketing ppl and geeks.
Troj
7 months ago |Actually, it does as most cameras compensate under the hood for differing transmission values (T stops). And compensation for vignetting (hello RX1) increases noise outside the center aswell at a given ISO.
Bollox
7 months ago |If this camera cooks the raw to compensate for vignetting, it is a joke abd not a camera. If this “review” is based on jpgs, it is a joke and not a review.
Otherwise, you spoke out of place

7 months ago |I’ve heard good things about the very rare Minolta 35mm f/2. I wonder if a good copy is out there for testing on the A99 so we could get more of an apples-to-apples test.

7 months ago |I dunno…is there a lens profile embedded in the camera itself to make full use of the lens?
Raffwal
7 months ago |Well, A99 can be expected to have half a stop worse high ISO compared to an RX1 or a D600 due to the pellicle mirror robbing that much light. No news. But it’s probably brilliant nevertheless.

7 months ago |In fact the reviewer has never said anything “bad” against the A99: he was just saying that he got “slightly better” results with his RX1. Which can be interpreted in many ways

7 months ago |These high-ISO discussions begin to suck imho. Worst thing is that the people discussing about it could never effort any of those cameras nor have they taken any ISO 25.000 pictures in real life, because children’s birthday ends before sunset…
Raffwal
7 months ago |You know, there places and times when the sunset’s soon after noon.

7 months ago |“Soon aftr noon”?
Well, in the northern part of my country (Sweden), the sun will be upp all day and night during the whole summer, so it will not set until after around three months. Plenty of child birthdays will end long before that – but still, extreme high ISO performance is not required, because, as said, the sun is up all night …

But that’s a lot of off topic.

7 months ago |The RX1 is my next camera. Even though I don’t understand the price difference between Europe, Switzerland in particular, compared to the US price, even taxes included… I’ll order it from BH then I guess.

7 months ago |As stunning as that sonnar lens could be, I would perfere a simple E-Mount on that camera. Even at this price!
At mflenses someone tests manul fullframe lenses on the VG900 and it looks great!
