SAR reader Josh shared this screenshot that proves how Amazon US (Click here) is shipping the very first Sony RX1 preorders!
SAR reader Futile also will soon get his camera: “My RX1 shipped today. Will be arriving on Monday (I had 1 day delivery selected on Amazon US). I ordered on Sept 11th.”
UPDATE: First RX1 is also on acution on eBay USA (Click here).
Gosh, would love to buy an RX1 too but price in EU is too high!

Go buy a Sony RX100 and forego the ego trip.
Same thing goes for those who bought a Canon 5dIII (overpriced Rebel t4i) or Nikon D800 (overpriced D3200).
I can take the least expensive of the big 3 and shoot anything just as well – with screen & print output to match.
It’s a beautiful camera for sure, but really sort of pointless – lest you have money to toss.

6 months ago |Anyone who buys a Nissan GTR is misguided – forgo the ego trip and get a Sentra – it’s fundamentally the same thing for practical purposes. The GTR is a beautiful machine but really sort of pointless – lest you have money to toss.

6 months ago |It’s not silly if it fits your needs, me buying a d800 or d600 is a silly buy because I would only ever have a 35mm or 50mm lens on it.

6 months ago |I don’t think it’s a silly buy. Price is reasonable and “ok” if you think about a damn Leica M9 or a NEX7 (1200$ on Sony store) plus a Zeiss 24/f1.8 (1100$ on Sony store) and with a NEX7 you don’t even get a FF camera (but of course you can change lenses). RX1 sounds like a really excellent camera according to people like Steve Huff (mine ain’t arrived yet, so I wouldn’t know for sure). Silly thing to do is troll around something that somebody doesn’t want or can’t afford. Go buy a D600, some lenses and then complain about the dust on the sensor after 500 pictures (there’s a nice time lapse about it on youtube).
Bottom line: if people wanna buy it, so be it; if somebody won’t, don’t troll around saying it’s a silly buy!
