Don’t call that a coincidence! I were wondering if Sony would release a new fast Memory Stick card that can manage the data of the future A77 24 Megapixel camera that can record over 10 frames per second. The answer came today. Sony Japan (Click here) just announced the new Series MS-HXB PRO-HG duo Memory Stick cards. It reads 50MB/s. Worldwide shipment will start on May the 10th. Ther eare 8GB, 16GB and 32GB cards. Price has yet not been disclosed.

2 years ago |instead of MS they should have put a second SD slot into the A77.. SD is so far ahead.. i got my Sandisk class 10 32GB SD for 40 pounds. i guess this MS will be 2-4 times the price
but still i wonder how this should be able to record 10FPS @ 24Megapixels ..not even thinking of RAW..

Your totally wrong! MS Pro HX is the best for SLT´s and cheaper than SD Class 10 by Sandisk

2 years ago |Looks like you got a fake card for that price. Did you got it from e-bay? I would buy a 40 ft container if that card is genuine (class 10 Sandisk) and it will sell like hot cake here.

2 years ago |Whoa, sorry. I thought you said $45. I think that is close to what they sell in my country now (other brand). Memory flash is getting dirt cheap now. Sony always command higher price as a brand. But even class 10 is not faster than MS Pro Duo HX. CF is still king for speed and price (for comparable speed).

2 years ago |Also, for cameras with dual slots (like my A700), it is good to leave a MS inside, so that in the rare event you leave your house without the CF, you’re still fine.

2 years ago |I think the original rumor had the A77 being able to use CF, SD and MS cards. Does anybody have any update on this? I just find it hard to believe that it will take 3 different size cards. I currently have the A550, will the A77 have the larger body like the A550 or a smaller one like the A55. ( I hope the larger one ). Mike/Canada

That’s more than twice as slow as a MS PRO-HG Duo according to benchmarks.

“Transcend”… Sorry it´s not the same league like a real Sony MS with real specifications. The MS Pro is faster.

I’ve seen this card being advertised in South East Asia… Exactly 32 GB, PRO-HG Duo… but needs to be ordered from SG cause Sony doesn’t really sell MS Duo cards anymore.

2 years ago |Hope they haven’t dropped the rumored CF support in the A77. Sandisk Extreme Pro CF cards have been at 90Mb/s for some time now…
Edgars
2 years ago |I’m exclusively shooting RAW and 24Mpix A900 files even in short series 5fps SDHC card (class10) handles pretty well. Main engine of camera and operative memory buffer then is much more important than card. BUT 10 fps for 4-5s (1.5GB) could be real challenge. Any way faster CF is cheaper than SD or MS.
Spoon
2 years ago |No need if speed is your thing. In about a week there will be SD cards in shops with similar speeds (Panasonic and Delkin, Toshiba still has to give a time for release fo their announced 95/80MB SD cards).
ushac
2 years ago |You mean like this one? http://delkin.com/i-6483225-32gb-delkin-elite-633-sdhc-uhs-i.html
Sure, sd cards will continue to get faster, but so will cf. Anyway, the 32Gb 80Mb/s Delkin SD card is quoted at $440 while the 32Gb 90Mb/s Sandisk CF cards can be had at around $250.
I don’t have anything against sd as long as they can keep up with the camera. I’m just wondering how they will keep up with 24Mpix @ 10fps RAW… Anyway, time will tell. Let’s first get that A77 out the door!

2 years ago |any news on the 1TB MS card that Sony was working on last year?
RB
2 years ago |Perhaps I have missed the point…
Isn’t it THIS card?:
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PRO-HG-Memory-Stick-MSHX32A/dp/B003USISNK
I have the 16 GB version of it (http://www.amazon.com/Sony-PRO-HG-Memory-Stick-MSHX16A/dp/B003F8UWV6) in my a900 and it is sssslllloooowwww…. Only usable as an emergency card, when I run out of my >90 MB/s Read/WRITE CompactFlash cards… The MemoryStick swallows only about 1/3 frame per second, so ~10 MB/sec write speed… So, once the in-camera buffer is filled, it takes about 30 seconds to flush the files (RAW data, only! No additional JPEG!) to the card.
No idea why Sony is still promoting this unappropriated proprietary stuff…
