Sony NEX-VG10 review at Akihabaranews
Akihabaranews tested the new Sony NEX-VG10. Their conclusion: “Despite its painful UI, control button layout, its incapacity to smoothly and quickly zoom in and out as well as many other small drawbacks, the NEX-VG10 is a fantastic camera.” and “Not only is the NEX-VG10 a gorgeous camera to look at but it also offers gorgeous video to watch. It is definitively the best “Hybrid Camcorder” ever made and the best compact “Handycam” made by Sony so”

2 years ago |Nice cam, I’d love to see a pro version of this camera for around 3000$. Common Sony there is a lot of space between this (if it was body only 1500$) and Pana AF-100 (5000$).
Must be easy to add phase AF,more output format options(24,25,30,50i+p,60i+p)
more than 24mbps and full support for all lenses, manual audio controls + XLR inputs.
Any idea for more features?
i think they can do it for 3k$

2 years ago |My bet is affordable FF cam for 20000USD. Current is 10 times more expensive.
If I remember Sony promised firmware update for Sony NEX-VG10 in November.

2 years ago |I’d ideally love an NEX-VG20 with full frame sensor and phase detect AF (with the option to disable phase detect AF & move the translucent mirror to allow more light in). Do that and Sony will be onto a winner.

2 years ago |I’m pretty disappointed with this camcorder. The AF system is painfully slow and exhibits a very pronounced back and forth pumping action — focusing behind the subject, in front of the subject, and then finally zeroing in on the right distance. Yes, i know this is how CDAF systems work, but it is particularly painful on the NEX-VG10. Even the regular consumer level Panasonic camcorders have much better AF… faster with much less noticeable pumping.
