Sony unveils new compact cameras

Good news folks! Sony unveiled the new compact cameras. Why is that good news? Tonight Sony will held a live press conference. I expect them to show something more than just the already presented compact cameras
The first website to report the compact camera news is Focus Numerique.
Sony launched the H-Series with large zoom new waterproof cameras and more…That’s a total of 9 cameras! As we told you yesterday the compact cameras with 1080p60 will be announced in february and not yet!

2 years ago |I think it’s pretty clear at this point that Sony and Canon likely have an agreement: if Sony is going to continue providing the sensors for the Canon Powershot cameras, Canon may have demanded a certain amount of exclusivity at the top of the compact line. Also, truthfully, with the advent of the NEX system, the G12 just doesn’t have the same level of relevance any more. I know the size difference is there but I can tell you that, at least in my area, our sales of the G12 to the NEX system are, maybe, 2 to 1 at best. And that’s not huge. The PEN and G systems eat the high end compact market as well.
At this point, I’d be highly surprised if Sony created anything higher end than their current X series point and shoots this year. The S95 is nice… but the HX5 offers a ton more versatility for the price point.
