4 years ago |I already see all these people rumbling how bad Sony is for not releasing A700 replacement and that they quit Alpha system once again…. >_>

4 years ago |Quit Alpha system? what are people talking about, this is Sony…they don’t quit anything, can people just have SOME patience, the A550 is already twice as good as A700 ever was, and new cameras will soon come too. Quit yeah right!

I know of no one who posts on the five or six Alpha-related sites that I read & participate in who has a better track record with his Alpha predictions than Gustav. No one. He works with Sony at shows and expositions and gets his info directly from well-placed Sony employees. And he is pretty careful about what he says. He is well-known as a photographer on Dyxum, and uses his A700 to take great photos of kingfishers from a blind. He is Dutch, and lives in the Netherlands, but I know he does shows at least in the UK. He is accorded the utmost respect by his fellow members at Dyxum and Photoclubalpha.

4 years ago |eerikoo reckons “the a550 is twice as good as the a700 ever was”. No way. It may be better specified in certain respects, but its a mid-range prosumer model, whereas the a700 is a far more rugged and “professional” piec of equipment – a tool as opposed to a toy. Sony should have kept the a700 in production longer, but marketing madness made then discontinue it long before the replacement us ready. I still prefer my a700 to Nikon D90 or Canon 50D, the main reason why so many of us are getting ready to defect is that Sony do not have a lens and accessory system anywhere near as extensive as Canon or Nikon. So Sony will sell cameras to zoom users, but anyone into serious macro, sport, perspective control or journalism will defect…

4 years ago |well, it slowly changes for better. In 2009 we got 70-400, the best lens of all brands at it’s range, we got zeiss wide-angle, we see patents for T&S lens, perhaps we gonna get 100mm macro successor… (we are missing anything in macro equipment anyway? I mean… there’s no canon 5:1 lens, nor T&S, but other than that you can find pretty much everything) – the direction is good, only I’m afraid that the speed lacks a bit :/.

It is in practice almost twice as good, way better ISO performance, more MP, HDR, more FPS…so what exactly are you trying to prove, if you need a higher price tag or a metal body to go to war with….then I see your point, but only then!

4 years ago |You also show your lack of knowledge when you say anyone into serious macro, sport, will defect…… I see know point in teaching you which lenses is available that professionals use too. But never mind…you should go to canon.
