(SR3) Chinese store leaks the NEX3 and NEX5 camera specs

We have to be very careful when we talk about leaks coming form China. But that one seems to be more reliable than others. The chinese store detail.zol.com.cn posted the Sony NEX3 and Sony NEX5 cameras. The only real news is that NEX cameras will use the “FW50 Special lithium battery”

4 years ago |“AF Sensor: 11″? That doesn’t make any sense if it’s contrast AF…
Chris
4 years ago |“AF Sensor:11″ same as the micro four thirds cameras.. you can chose 1 of 11 areas where the conrtast af should focus ; )

4 years ago |Indeed, these things need phase AF…we don’t need another slow EP-1 or 2…judging from the ISO range, I’d say the sensor used is the A550′s – a 14.2 MP sensor…
Hopefully it’ll be released soon, and all models at once (or nearly)…I’d love to have one to use during the summer.

4 years ago |Sony E mount? MAN! Just refused to build it around the A Mount! This SUCKS! Even if I spend more dough on a damn converter…. I’m gonna be loosing some lens speed FULL AF OR NOT!!!! If they have it at APS-C size…. why not stay the same mount size? Damn!

4 years ago |I doubt it would have ISO 12800 _ maybe as a faked one. Other specs seems reasonable. It only lack the IS (image stabilization). They lost the advantage of their current a-mount lenses as all of them depends on in-body stabilization.

I know that many people here are not interested in video but if they were able to offer different fps (24, 25, 30) and a good bitrate this small and cheap camera good be a big hit. Strap the zacuto z-finder to it and their will be a lot of happy videographers : )
Canon did it this their cheap 550D.. it basically got all the video features from the 7D and 5D
I don´t know if it is possible to have all the necessary technology in a camera like the Sony NEX ???

4 years ago |what’s about specs of the rumored NEX7. What differences are expected so far? As for video 24, 25, 30 and 50p and 60i would be awesome. Any specs about body sizes (NEX3/5)?

4 years ago |Mohd – rumors that it will have ISO 12800 in this cam float for quite a while, so I think it’s quite possible
The Prince of Cheap – there will be the AF adapter as well
BTW: Why does it say “Body type: Single Lens electronic viewfinder” ? It will have EVF? As an accessory?

4 years ago |NEX series use touch monitor, which perform very well! Even better than GF1!
With the lowest price in the EVIL market, NEX series should be very competitive!
I believe this is a great move of Sony, as the current models of EVIL camera like E-PL1 is too expensive…….

4 years ago |Hm, the problem with the m43 cameras is not the price but the image quality. I downloaded raw files from the EP-1 and compared to the raw-files from my Panasonic LX3. Theres was almost no difference in image quality!!
I was amazed that the small sensor in the Panasonic was almost on par with the big sensor in the M43 cameras.
This is why I didnt buy the EP1. Now Im waiting for the NEX 3. No bells and whistles, but hopefully really great Image Quality. Simple and clean

4 years ago |I wish they’d give us a few more hints about the video. I too would like to know if the 1080 mode is 24 or 30fps (or both), and what kind of controls you might have over video mode (hopefully more than just aperture priority). It would also be nice if they offered mp4 as a storage option.

4 years ago |I’m curious to know if it will be able to do 720p 60p. I’ll let it slide if it can’t do 1080p 60p since only one camcorder can do it (south of the professional ones), and a consumer JVC of all camcorders! Sony has to support 60p if it wants to be competitive at all with the m4/3 in terms of video. With it’s larger sensor size it has potential to be great at video.

I don’t believe it will do 720/50p.

When a rumor said a certain model with any one IT product, then there is instantly an list added.

4 years ago |Is there really anything like 60p? It is my understanding that 60i (interpolated) is really 30 fps. What one really wants is 24p & 30p (uninterpolated), the speeds of film & TV–though of course everything changes. Those of us who are still photographers have a lot to learn.

4 years ago |@admin: Aw, to bad, I was hoping for both 1080/24p and 720p/60p on the nex5. Guess I’m going to have to wait for the nex7?
Sergio
4 years ago |@Dulaney: There is 60p and both the GH1 and GF1 can do it. I want 720p/60p so that when I throw the video on a 30p timeline, I can have high quality slow motion without any ghosting or artifacts when I need it. It’s always better working with video that’s inherently progressive than interlaced. So like BioFreak69 I was hoping the nex5 would have it but oh well.

4 years ago |Are the specs for the NEX 5 good enough for a A7XX replacement? It seems all the guts will be refined enough for the replacement – what other features would you want? I guess the optical system would be dificult to work while making movies, but maybe they’ll just opt for using live view during movie making?

Good to know. Yes, the specs seemed a bit too vague to be official.

4 years ago |Regarding video, a good compression codec and also manual control of exposure, so that shutter and aperture can be controlled independently of each other would both be very useful. I.e. like the e-p2 and e-pl1, rather than the e-p1.
Not being able to control shutter speed would be a shame, because the video cadence or motion looks best at roughly two times the frame rate. I.e. if it is 30p (lets hope for 24p though!), then being able to set the shutter at around 60 would make it look good. Also I have gotten tired of banding or strobbing that seems to happen a lot under modern energy saving lighting, or fluorescents, when you can’t alter the shutter speed to sync with the frequency of the light. For example the video on the nikon d90 has this problem, but the canon 7d doesn’t. And I don’t think the e-p2 and e-pl1 would either.
