UPDATE: This is not the mysterious malaysian A560 picture ->looks like the camera shown at PMA

A Malaysian friend sent us that picture from the Sony show in Jakarta. According to the guy who made the photo that is the final design of the new Sony A560 and A580. Both models will replace the current

2 years ago |That looks like the A7xx mock-up.
note MR position on dial as well as top LCD.
A560 will probably not have either of those.

2 years ago |Yea, looks like A700 successor. Sure, it might be A560 or A55 but… I wouldn’t be so sure that it’s A560. The same camera was show on Film Foto Video trade show in Poland, take a closer look at the photos in link – it has the Depth of Field preview button under the lens, just as expected cameras are suppose to have, and have the AF Assist Lamp suggesting better AF. It’s nothing new, but I highly doubt it’s A560 – it’s just too good to be real (but, hell, surprise me Sony!!!). My bet would be or that it’s A55 or that it’s planned A700-series camera, though not to be released before 2011.

2 years ago |Ok, another thought – Do you recall that out there, during the PMA 2010 and later on on the traid show Sony have shown two cameras? One for “Mainstream” and another, the “Amateur”? Both with video AVCHD? Now: What if these two were mock-ups of A560 and A33? The Amateur camera looked bit too primitive comparing to current A550 but… who knows, recent camera releases show that Sony goes towards more and more simplicity/less buttons in low-level cameras, so this might be it.

2 years ago |This photo was from the old PMA show back in Feb…. this is old news… It’s not confirmed to be a A560 as it was just a prototype at the show. If anything this is the A7xx… the MR mode on the dial, rear wheel, 16-80 CZ lens, rear metering switch…. unless Sony plans to upgrade the A5xx series to semi-pro… this is the A7xx. Pic was posted back in Feb. here: http://www.photographybay.com/2010/02/21/sony-alpha-dslr-models-to-be-refreshed-soon-with-avchd-video/
nothing to see here…time to move on.

2 years ago |As someone pointed out in the dpreview forums: it looks as if this picture actually is from PMA, doesn’t it?

2 years ago |Maybe is not the same camera from PMA.
This one is sitting on a white bottom, at PMA the bottom of the cage was orange.

2 years ago |No reason for disappointment. Anyway we have one more picture of the A7XX. Nice top.
NONAME
2 years ago |It should be a7xx, I think. This body obviously has two wheels and AF-assistant light.
Nope
2 years ago |Nope, this looks like the mockup of the thinner little Body design shown at PMA, look at the Grip precisily it’s surely more little than the mockup shown at PMA and press release of the Alpha 700 successor. Maybe Sony have got add the monochrom on-top LCD (from the Semi-Pro Alpha 7xx?) to the Alpha 560 to fit a more valuable design etc.
Look here the Alpha 7xx mochup has a much more bigger grip

2 years ago |As Andreas noted, that’s am image I shot at PMA of the Alpha mockups that were behind glass.
To me, the body size looked like the A700-style of camera. Lots more here:
http://www.photographybay.com/2010/02/21/sony-alpha-dslr-models-to-be-refreshed-soon-with-avchd-video/
I think it surfaced just now because I used it as a lead image when linking back to Sony Alpha Rumor’s previous A55, A33, A560 and A580 post from last week.

2 years ago |Just to state the obvious so that its obvious enough to those who didn’t notice it (e.g. contraspirit): No one confirmed that the camera shown was the A700 replacement.
NONAME
2 years ago |But in fact sony stated that this was the replacement of a700 months ago, in PMA2010 …
Vulkaz
2 years ago |Maybe Sony wants to compete with the A560 against the D90 category (top lcd, AF Lamp,2 dials, magnesium alloy ..)
toppukuma
2 years ago |Two dials and a top panel LCD may look weird if we look the A560 as a A550 successor.
But it’s not so weird if we look the A560 as Nikon D90 direct competitor (or successor of D90 that probably will be launch at Photokina).
Don’t forget that A550 and D90 are in close price range…
contraspirit
2 years ago |Just to state the truth so that it will be clear to those who miss it (e.g. E.Z): No one confirmed that the camera was NOT the a700 replacement.
trojmacready
2 years ago |No one from Sony has to state it, it’s too obvious (very similar buttons and button layout, top LCD, large viewfinder eyecup, larger camera size than the A5xx and smaller APS-C Sony cameras.

2 years ago |Could this be true a5xx model with two wheels and metering knob?
Sounds like Sony product management got brain implants after the a390 fiasco

2 years ago |there is the A1XX, the A2XX, the A3XX, the A4XX, the A5XX, the A7XX, the A8XX and the A9XX. Could we be looking at an A6XX?
shinrikyo
2 years ago |clay mock-ups do not have holes for the microphone, AVCHD without a voice:)
E.Z
2 years ago |I never denied that the camera is the mock-up of the a700 replacement, but rather bring out the possibility of that being the mock-up of the a560/a580. There is no definite answer from Sony that it is indeed the a700 replacement. So, try harder, contraspirit.
I think it is very possible for the camera to not be the a700 replacement. Look at the nikon’s d90, top LCD, video mode and solid ergos. To compete with that, this current mockup would apparently make a very good competitor against it. So, if Sony is serious in using the a700 replacement to compete with the likes of the d300s and 7D, the design and apparent features seem lacking.

2 years ago |The only difference with the A700 type of class (thus not being a successor to that camera), could be a lack of weather sealing and metal body.
Everything else is almost a carry over from the A700, allbeit slightly rearranged. See the picture of the backside also.
